The Color Issue

Do you like black and white music videos? I have much respect for musicians that try to be a little artistic with videos, and I think black and white really adds a nice touch. Maybe I love black and white music videos so much because of black and white photography. Nothing looks more high class than a black and white glossy sitting in a pewter picture frame.

I think musicians that shoot videos in black and white like to leave the door of perception open to fans. Glam bands often get slagged for wanting to look good, so shooting in black and white is even a little daring.

Here are a few of my favorite black and white clips:

And, of course, Motley Crue "Saints of Los Angeles"

I doubt I'm the only person to compare black and white film to color when it comes to music videos. Tell me, which do you prefer?

Oh yeah black and white videos are awesome..I was thinking of Livin' on a prayer too..then i scrolled down and their it was haha!!!..Hope you had a great weekend Allyson =)

black and white or clour - dont really mind - just wish we had somehwere to view the vids rather than just youtube.
We have Kerrang and scuzz to view rock music - neither are very good to be honest.

Of course I'd say this but my favorite is Winger's "Heading For A Heartbreak". Great visualization in that video. (Ok, Kip wasn't bad looking then either...) ;) 2nd is the one for "Miles Away".

I tend to notice more detail with black & white, but then again, I'm ancient and grew up on black & white TV. >:)

I like some of them but when it's the first time watching a video i just kinda get mad with black and white because glam bands and metal bands in performance videos use big colors and it just looks cooler like poison's nothin' but a good time.

I really wanted Crashdiet's Falling Rain video to be in color so i could see the show lights and everything but it wasn't!
