Holy Diver

I was watching Big Brother last night when I had the strongest desire to listen to "Holy Diver" during one of the commercials. Since I have a laptop permanently attached to my body, I simply clicked over to YouTube and had a listen. After I listened to Ronnie James Dio, my husband wanted to hear the same song by Killswitch Engage. I will admit their cover is pretty darn close to the original. Of course, the video is a blatant ripoff, but I like it all the same. Can you beat Ronnie James Dio? I'm not certain. Have a listen:

Here's Killswitch Engage's attempt. I have to admit hearing this song live was a highpoint of the band's set at Rock on the Range.

So, which do you prefer? The original - which is bona fide Metal classic - or the remake, which has its own special quality? Of course, I'll never understand's Dio's obsession with dragons...

But of course its got to be Dio's version. Theres just no comparison.

I don't really like the song at all but Dio's is prob. a little better even though killswitch has heavier music

It's not even a question.....the Dio original. I don't get the fascination with Killswitch, I've listened to the music, its not that good, IMO

Dio, without a doubt. I'm not a fan of "nu" metal bands like Killswitch.

I'll give KSE props for being metalcore before metalcore was cool, but that's about it. I'll take Dio's version any day, and I'm not even a big Dio fan in general.

I must say, I like the sound of KSE's better. But I like Dio's vocals better.

KSE's version is ok. Another cover you gotta check out is Norwegian black metal band Dimmu Borger's version of Youre Gonna Burn In Hell by Twisted Sister. Its AWESOME!!!

While I gotta go with Dio's original, I am intrigued by the KSE version. I just don't understand why a guy who can actually sing wants to do cookie monster vocals.
