AC/DC vs. Metallica

AC/DC and Metallica are two bands that have enjoyed a rare amount of success. Both bands are huge and still have rabid fan bases. Sure, the most recent albums by both bands were less than great,  but anytime the possibility of a new AC/DC or Metallica album is mentioned - people get a little crazy. People get even crazier at the talk of a tour. Now, both AC/DC and Metallica are getting ready to release new discs and a full tour supporting the material. Which tour will be bigger?

I honestly don't know who to give the edge here. Quite frankly, I'm going to both tours and I'll get both albums, too. AC/DC have been around longer but when the chips fall in place, I'm probably a bigger Metallica fan. Either way, I think both tours are going to be massive.

How massive? I'm not sure. My guess is that ticket prices for both tours will be astronomical - with AC/DC having a higher nightly guarantee and subsequently older audience. At least in North America, the tours are winter events - and that usually means pretty big venues. Metallica is coming to Ohio in November at the Schottenstein Center. For those of you not from Ohio - that is on the campus of Ohio State University. Everything at Ohio State University is absolutely huge. I am guessing that AC/DC will play two Ohio dates.

You know what this means, right? It means I'm going to be shelling out a bunch of cash for fanclub memberships to get close tickets.

So, which will be bigger? Metallica or AC/DC? Which show will you attend?

There is no doubt in my mind that both tours will be among the highest grossing of 2009 - and maybe even this year if the respective bands play enough dates. I don't expect cheap tickets. I gave that dream up a long time ago.

Personnally i would go see AC/DC as much as i have liked metallica in the past - well some tracks - i really dont like Lars that much - once at Donnington monsters of rock festivl i tried to get there autographs and Lars said - 'im not f***ing signing that while you have on that T shirt - in reference to my Motley crue Bad boys T - so i responded with F*** off you tw*t.
Bring on AC/DC - lets hope the album is back to there best.

AC/DC are much better in my opinion. I just dont like metallica very much. I dont hate them or anything, I just dont particularly like the music.

I wont be going to either concert because i live in FOOKING ENGLAND where no-one ever comes.

But if they came to England, I doubt i could afford the ticket price.

AC/DC will come to England. They will play a decent number of dates at a decent number of venues because they care. There will be none of this "5 nights at the O2" bullshit from them.

I like everything Metallica has done except the black album and St. Anger. I've only heard the new single from the new album so far, but so far I'm not impressed. However, I think Metallica will pull in bigger crowds.

I like AC/DC much more. They are the quintessential rock band that crosses genre lines...they are classic rock, hard rock, and heavy metal all rolled into one. There are not many people that don't like AC/DC, but I think they are considered a nostalgia act nowadays. Hopefully the new album will change that, but I don't expect much.

AC/DC, no question. (If I can afford it, bahaha.)

Okay, I admit it, I like a few Metallica songs. AC/DC, though? They are much better people, and make MUCH better music. Need I say more?

Plus, Lars Ulrich is a dickwad.

Have always hated Metallica and have always loved AC/DC..

Metallica should have not been featured on this site.. you know, bringbackglam...

I won't be going to either show, coz I live like in an 18th century country...end of story

Hate Metallica...Love AC/DC.
If they come around NC, and everything else is in the right place, I'd like to see AC/DC, but I could care less of Metallica.

I don't care for Metallica.
But I'm a huge AC/DC fan..."Back In Black" is the album that first got me into hard rock. I'm really looking forward to their new album, and to be able to catch them on tour...would be the dream come true.

Metallica I can pass on, but my brother would probably be in the front row. Whereas I would go see AC/DC and he will have spent all his money on Metallica tickets and not be able to join me ;-) so I guess we cancel each other out. Although, I think AC/DC as a has a much wider/more diverse audience base than Metallica, anyway. Hopefully they'll stop in Raleigh!

I'd much rather see AC/DC than Metallica. I saw Metallica, when they were still good, in 1992 with Danzig and Suicidal Tendencies. I'd like to remember them like that. Plus, Lars is a complete douche, and I'd rather not support him.

I have yet to see AC/DC live. They f-ing rock, and I must see them before I die. So...AC/DC wins!

I'll go with AC/DC.

I'll buy both records but I will probably skip Metallica live if the tix are too much (and you know they will be) and the opener sucks. The only thing that could sway my decision is a completely old school setlist with some deep tracks from the first 3 albums. Metallica has disappointed me since '96 so they have a lot to prove.

i'm excited AC/DC will be hitting the road again. As for new Metallica, I'm OVER 'EM. Best news about this tour is DOWN touring with them for the first leg!

I'd go for Metallica. Afterall, they were the ones that I was crazy about in my early teens. I'm not sure how it's with me and them these days, cause I haven't listened to them for awhile now, but I bet it would blow my mind again If I saw them live. I'd pay for that, for sure.

As about ACDC - well.. They're great, that's a fact, but as I see it, there are many other bands that I'd like to spend my money on. They simply aren't the ones that make me want to cross half of the Europe just to see them in concert [yeah yeah, I also live in a one-big-concert-in-a-year country, poor me]

I used to love Metallica, but not so much any more. I never was an ACDC fan. It all depends on who the openers are as to if I will go to either show.

If they come to Brazil...maybe middle 2009... I'll see both!!!
Metallica was the first heavy metal band I heard in 1986...after the Black Album... I never kept in touch with their music...too commercial...

AC/DC is one of best for me!!! I'm always a AC/DC fan...have all cd's, tshirt's, bootlegs...

Other important factor is...in Brazil we don't have many big concerts and when it happens...save your money!!!

But...if I have to chosse...AC/DC wins!!!!!!
