Will It Work? - SIXX: AM Edition

Recently, singer and producer James Michael  revealed  SIXX: AM will record a new album. I didn't think much of this at the time. Sure, it's good news and I dismissed it as much. Over time, I've started to wonder: what will a new SIXX: AM disc sound like?

The reason SIXX: AM and the Heroin Diaries soundtrack took-off is because of the "special project" element. Just three musicians - one of them a superstar - coming together to tell the story of addiction through music.

Nikki Sixx had a reason to create SIXX: AM. He wanted to tell his story through words and music. Understanding that not everyone would read his book, he gave fans an alternative to written words - and created a great album in the process.

Now, SIXX: AM announce plans to make a new album and I don't know if it will work. As time goes on, I can't help but worry more albums would cheapen the original output. Of course, I could be wrong. DJ Ashba and James Michael are great collaborators. With Nikki, I believe they have another great album in them. I just don't know if it will be as poignant - or successful - as the Heroin Diaries soundtrack. Then there's the issue of Nikki getting bored with his side projects, but that's another article entirely.

What are your thoughts on a new SIXX: AM album?

To be honest, I'm nothing but excited about the new Sixx:a.m. album. I know lots of people who dont know who nikki sixx is, havent really heard of motley crue, and certainly havent read his book, but still really like Sixx:a.m.

Of course, I love everything to do with Nikki Sixx, but thats another story.

The only thing i'm wondering is, will it be another album like the heroin diaries? Ones that tell a story?? Or will it just be an album, nothing to do with the book. We'll have to wait and see.

I am definitely looking forward to it. While "The Heroin Diaries" is a great cohesive album, several of the tracks stand on their own very well. There have already been four singles released, though some have received more airplay than others, and I think there is room for maybe one or two more singles from the album. Whether or not the next album tells a story when pieced together, as long as they can write good singles the rest will take care of itself.

I'd love for Sixx:A.M. to make a new album, and I definitely hope they do. (And I hope Nikki doesn't take off and leave Sixx:A.M. in the dust as well.) It's a great project, and the first cd doesn't have a bad song on it, so I would definitely hope they continue with it.

Yeah me to!!!

I think SIXX AM is the freshest piece of material N.S. has come up with todate and a new album would be something I would love to see in the works.

After having FINALLY listened to the entire Sixx:AM album, ( I read the "Heroin Diaries" as soon as it came out), I have to say that - to me - it's the best album I've heard in a long, long time and definately - again for me - the best album put out this year.

Although Motley may be Nikki's bread and butter, the songs and production on this album outweigh pretty much anything the Crue has done in quite awhile.

You bet I'd buy another collaboration between the three of them. This disc is fucking awesome - as far as I'm concerned it even transcends the subject matter and "theme" behind the music.

Oh, yeah, and I'm re-reading "the Heroin Diaries"... again.

im sorry, but SIXX:am is just modern garbage....but I do agree...I feel it would cheapen it to make a new album...at this point it would only be to stroke nikkis ego..last time it had a purpose

I think SIXX AM took everyone by surprise, they are fresh and modern and I am nothing but THRILLED that they are making some new music. They had so much energy at CRUEFEST......it was magical!
