Another Look at Enuff Z' Nuff

I've never been a giant Enuff Z' Nuff fan. My friends and regular readers can and will attest to this fact. Still, I found myself duly impressed with the band's performance this past weekend at Rock the Bayou.

For some reason, I always cringed at the song "Fly High Michelle." This time around I stood and really listened to the music. Last night I found myself looking up Enuff Z' Nuff videos on YouTube. You know what? "Fly High Michelle" is actually a pretty great song!

Musicianship aside, Chip Z' Nuff seems like an alright guy. He's been at both Rocklahoma festivals as well as Rock the Bayou. In each instance, he always seemed happy to hop on a golf cart, ride out into the crowd and chat with fans. I love when musicians are not afraid to mingle with their bread and butter.

I really enjoyed the Enuff Z' Nuff's set - the band sounded great! Donnie Vie is always amusing on stage and this was true at Rock the Bayou. I don't know if it was planned or fake, but the band did seem to be "winging it" a little. Donnie kept asking "What is next?" This didn't seem to hurt the show any. All songs were tight.

My favorite part of the set was when the band played a cover of "Come Together." Guess what? Someone filmed the performance and it is already on YouTube. Watch for yourself.

How do you feel about Enuff Z' Nuff? I don't own any Enuff Z' Nuff albums, so if you are a big fan, please point me in the right direction.

I own EVERY EZN album they have released. Totally one of my favorite bands. Chip and Donnie are the nicest guys ever too. I had a tour laminate the year they opened the Poison tour and these guys were soooo nice. They even let me on their bus a few times and gave me free cds, shirts, and posters. They are one of the greatly underrated bands of the era. It seems funny now, but Rolling Stone magazine named them the band to watch in 1990, just ahead of Nirvana. Thats awesome! Grunge can suck it!!!

I picked Enuff Z'nuff as the greatest hard rock band for the letter "E"...better than Extreme and Europe. In fact, I believe they are the greatest "E" band out there...even topping the Eagles. As to which albums to check out, you have to start with the debut. It is a masterpiece. I think their songwriting is way underrated, and they should be considered one of the top songwriting groups of all-time, along with Lennon/McCartney and Stanley/Simmons.

I am not the BIGGEST fan, but I think they are pretty good. I have their second release "Strength". It's a really good album, you should check that one out Allyson!

Enuff Z Nuff SUCKS! Their performance at Rocklahoma 08 was horrible and Donnie is a junkie joke of a singer. They only had 2 hits off their first album 20 years ago and nothing ever since. A complete Beatles wanna be band. Chip should stay playin bass in Adlers band and get a better wig.

Well, for me Enuuf Z'Nuff were one of THE highlights at Rocklahoma. They are incredible live and seem to be a great bunch of guys. 'Fly High Michelle' had always been one of my favorite songs. I'm glad you finally see the greatness of it, Allyson! =)

Whoops, I can't even spell their name right. Scratch the second 'u' please. XD

Wow! if they were a highlight then I guess you missed Tora Tora, Vain, Sebastian, Kix, & Steelheart just to name a few REAL HIGHLIGHTS.They may be nice guys but musically they are boring and the singer if one of the worst. Compaing them to McCartney/Lennon and Paul/Gene is utterly HILLARIOUS!

i've sort of always understood it when you said you weremt that much into alice or you werent that much into lita but i have to admit being puzzled by not diggin enuff z nuff. when it comes to glam, they're textbook glam but i eventually just chalked it up to personal taste which is cool. i'm glad to see you gave them a second chance and that you can appreciate their talent. they are very talented musicians and songwriters whose music has held up through several musical misdirections. thanks for all you do.

No Fitz, I didn't. I actually saw all bands on the main stage from Thursday to Sunday. Those you mentioned were among my highlights too. Highlights are not limited to a certain number. KIX ruled them all and Enuff 'Z Nuff were as good as Tora Tora and Steelheart which I absolutely loved. You have to accept that tastes differ.

Easily one of the most underated and underappreciated bands of the last 20 some odd years. I too was at Rocklahoma. I drove from Indiana primarily to see Chip and Donnie together again. They seem to be a "love 'em or hate 'em" sort of band. They are, in my opinion, some of the best songwriters of the last 20 years.

Ditto Allyson! Never was a big fan either. Changed my tune over the years mostly due to their relationship with the fans. They try, happily so, to throw the prima donna, I'm-too-good-for-everybody, cock rock persona out the window. Fly High Michelle is one song that I don't enjoy on CD or radio, but for some reason, it scores very well in concert.

Wow, frekin pathetic. There only being like 100 people there speaks to thier popularity. That crap was written for girls.
