Not Original, but...

Ok. Wild Boyz were not original. In fact, their songs and image were 100% contrived - and, by the looks of things, completely stolen from Poison. Still, Glam is party rock - and Wild Boyz deliver on that front.

You might know the band Dorian Gray? Anyway, members of that band eventually formed Wild Boyz - and yeah, the band played the Sunset Strip. A lot. Ok, maybe they didn't play as much as they partied, but whatever.

So, Wild Boyz have an odd website. The site sort of makes it seem like Wild Boyz might try to make a go of things again. Or not. At any rate, I just couldn't believe I've never mentioned this band - so there you go!

Here's the only video Wild Boyz ever made in support of their 1991 release Unleashed!

"I Don't Wanna Cry No More"

I really like this band, I know...surprise!
If they got to release their album a few years earlier, they could've been more successful..I think.

Actually, this band was not in it just for the Party, and in fact they were very good with very good songs ... they made the mistake of signing an indy deal with a brand new label -- Polaris Records, founded by Sunset Strip pay to play promoters CIA -- and thus were taken seriously and never got a chance to play large venues as a support act.

The singer, Willie D., boy could he sing. The song 'Roll The Dice" has the makings of a hit single. These guys were a great draw on the Strip and were good friends of mine -- I am thanked on their CD -- and if you happen to have an original Wild Boyz CD it's worth probably 200 dollars on eBay!

I was lucky enough to book Wild Boyz drummer, K. Lee Lauren to play a solo acoustic show here in Tampa the summer of '97. He was totally cool and was exceptional. He played 11 songs, some Wild Boyz, some his own and two covers. Imagine, a John Lennon cover was beautiful and so was his solo, Road To Nowhere. Forever, a W B ballad also rocked... I hear he has written and released a book, Boundless under his real name Kurt Lee Hurley. Can't wait to read it. -Melody
