It's Time to Pick the Best Albums of 2009 - Your Input Needed
It's almost December...and that means we're nearing the end of the year. I usually just post a list of my selections for the best album of the year. This year, I thought it would be cool to ask you to email me your lists of the best albums from 2009. So here's what you do: email your choices for what you think are the ten best releases of 2009. They don't all have to be glam - just whatever you think is best. Email your lists to allyson@bringbackglam.com by December 14, 2009 at 11:59 pm EST. I'll compile all the lists and tally the top vote getters. I'll publish our list of the best albums of 2009 one day during the last week of the year.
I'm pretty sure I already know the top choice for the number one slot...but it will be interesting to see if we're thinking along the same lines. Get to work!
If you don't email your list, your choices will not be counted!

To All: Thank you for keeping me informed and up on all the latest & greatest, and the oldest & immortalest. Without you, I couldn't have most of these favorites and more! And especially to Allyson, our ever faithful Glamistress, without your incredible site, bringbackglam.com, and highlighting all this great music, none of this would be possible! It's been so much fun this year getting into it with all of you about the greatest music in the world! Happy Thanksgiving!
p.s. And as usual, if you think I've forgotten or overlooked anything on these lists (Sorry Christian, I gotta check out Megadeth's new one -- How in tarnation did I miss that one?!), as you all know, I'm always looking to perfect and add to (and subtract from! -- ouch!) my lists! Cheerz n' Jeerz!
The Whitesnake album's called "Slip of the Tongue" not "Tip".
Just to add to your list... I think for '89 you gotta at least include Dr. Feelgood too, as well as Aerosmith Pump!
Other contenders for the year could definitely include Bang Tango's Psycho Cafe, Faster Pussycat's Wake me when it's over, Junkyard s/t and of course the Sea Hags s/t.
Hey, I guess it was a pretty good year eh??
2. Kiss - sonic boom
3. europe - last look @ eden
Snoot: I guess "Slip Of The Tongue" was on the "Tip" of my tongue. What the h..? Babylon A.D.! Yes! And I saw 'em at the frickin' Cat Club in NYC that year off this one, too! I am such an iddyoat!
Mike: You are so right! Bang Tango and Junkyard! Worship these bands. Saw both of these bands off both of those S/T records, Bang Tango at Limelight in NYC and Junkyard (who I also saw again of their second one) at the Cat Club in NYC, as well.
In fact, I actually want to look into havin' Junkyard play my birthday party at an undisclosed location (after I win the lotto, of course, hahaha!!! But maybe not, as you boys can see, I'm probably nuts enough to do it. You boyz are invited, if I pull it off. I'll keep ya posted! -- no pun intended.) It's still a ways off, so gotta see.
Dang right it was a good year, son, and you have just proved it beyond a shadow of a doubt! You guys should really dunk me in the Cauldron for every 80's Essential I've missed!
Also, cripes!, Faster Pussycat "Wake Me..." and Sea Hags! Got both of those in '89! How the he...?And of course, the most glaring omission, Motley Crue "Dr. Feelgood". I've moved that up to #1, as you'll see below. Metalboy!'s gonna have to punch through a couple of bank vault steel doors over that one! Blast it! Unfortunately, I can't go with ya on Aerosmith "Pump", tho it's obviously probably as big in sales as "Dr. Feelgood" (worth checking out that fact, how ever the heck I do that), as you boyz know full well, I'm stuck on "Rocks". But , believe me, I know there's a lot of heart for "Pump", don't get me wrong!
Mike, gotta say, ya got the Metal Midas Touch when it comes to this stuff. You really nailed it with all your suggestions. I will attempt to perfect the list, unless you want to take a stab at it. Otherwise, I'll give it another shot later incorporating some of your suggestions.
Strutter: For 2009, I see you got Danger Danger "Revolve", too. We can see GEO, Looksthatkill and Alexx have flagged that one, too! I bet Kenny Ozz and some of the other Counsel members are into that one, as well, I bet. I'm gonna check it out.
Also, speaking of Kenny O, I'm going along with his prediction...
And even tho I have it at #5 for 2009 personally...
Steel Panther "Feel The Steel" will be #1!
And I bet that's what Al is thinkin', too. I see Christian's thinkin' that probably, also.
Tell ya what, too... I'm gonna take another pass at the list for "Best of '89" unless one of you characterz wants to give it a shot. If not, I'll see what, if anyone has added onto the old school pile some more and go from there. The stuff you guys mentioned is totally up there, in fact, way up there in my book, as well, so I'll probably bump at least one of 'em for Junkyard and there may be other reconsiderations, too. Especially if people can be adding more.
How the hell do you guyz know all this stuff? You are true Metal Maven Monsterz!
Under this line below is what I was about to send when you boyz came up and trounced me...

As you all well know by now, I just can't leave well enough alone. So why stop now...
ADDENDUM:
Miss Crazy, "Markus Allen Christopher" (insert under Steel Panther in the "Best of 2009", making it the new #6 and everything else bumps down, alas, bumping off Halestorm into the "Honorable Mention".
Crooked X, "Crooked X" (add to the 2009 "Honorable Mention" list as well. Wild fact... in case you didn't know, these kidz are only like 15 years old. Crooked X are like the Bad4Good of this decade. Told ya the kidz were gonna Bring Back Glam!
I strongly recommend you check these out, particularly Miss Crazy! I can't say enough about how great this band is. And check out 2007's "Can't Get Enough" album by Miss Crazy, too, especially the title track, my fave song by them.
Doh! Also, I am such a maroon, as I'm sure many of you will agree, but particularly with my stroll down memory lane, "THE BEST ALBUMS OF 1989" list. I'd like to put at the top of the list:
1) Motley Crue "Dr. Feelgood"!
Hello?! This album was released September 1, 1989. Dunno why I thought it was from '90. So, of course everything bumps down and Whitesnake falls to, alas, the 1989 "Honorable Mention" list, well, in IMHO.
Also please add to the 1989 "Honorable Mention" list, the following: Michael Monroe "Not Fakin' It", Treat "Organized Crime", Blue Murder "Blue Murder", Dirty Looks "Turn Of The Screw", Accept "Eat The Heat", EZO "Fire Fire" and Tesla "The Great Radio Controversy", tho this last one, I'm sure, people will think should go up in the Top 10 of '89, as perhaps, they should. What a year it was!
And, as before, let me know what you think I should add, etc, if I missed any on either list! Thanks again, for all the Metal tips and Happy Thanksgiving again, too!
D.A.D. "No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims"
Vain "No Respect"
