Caught in Despair

So I decided to take a dedicated listen to "Caught In Despair" last night - the new demo by Crashdiet. The song is a first taste of what the Swedish band sounds like with new singer Simon Cruz. The band popped the song up online in June and I listened then, but only half-heartedly. Since I'm getting really itchy for a new Crashdiet release, I dedicated to revisit the matter.

Here's what I think. "Caught in Despair" is a great demo. It's a little rough, but that's to be expected. Simon sure has a high voice - which is perfect for a Glam band! I love the riffs of the song - and great work by the rhythm section, too. Listen for the guitar solo!

Crashdiet just canceled a bunch of their shows because they are supposedly behind in the studio. I hope they hurry!

Crashdiet will headline the Rest in Sleaze festival February 6, 2010 in Stockholm. I suspect the band will also play a major European fest this summer - but that's just conjecture on my part.

It is futile and pointless, as Crashdiet have had completely different sounds with each singer. But that isn't going to stop me from saying that Dave Lepard has probably been my favourite, but I can't wait for this next album.

I'm on a crash diet of Crash Diet these daze. If there's one band that could singlehandedly Bring Back Glam, Crash Diet would be it! If this track is any indication, I'm expecting this new forthcoming album to be their best yet. Killer song! Killer lead! Killer new singer! Listen to that ending! Simon could shatter glass!

p.s. This is homework for Lambert, if he really wants to live up to his "Glam" tag.

I think that it's a very promising effort and very close (musically) to the first record. They seem to have found their old spark.

im sorry this song sounds like been there done it a thousand times i never made it to the end of it to hear the scream, songs like this over and over are why the 80s died nothin original just straight ahaead sound like a million other rock songs

I thought that's what's so great about these guys. Nobody's doing this kinda stuff anymore, in the grand scheme of things, at any rate.

If you don't like this, what do you like of the new bands out there today?

Just curious, as I respect your opinion. You have given me lots of great tips and observations about all things glam.
