StoneRider Totally Rocks My World

You know I'm always on the hunt for new music. I get about 50 CDs a month from labels. Some of those artists are really quite good and eventually make it right here to Bring Back Glam! Other times I head to Myspace and just start clicking, looking for something exciting. Sometimes, friends refer bands.

StoneRider came to me via the friend referral.

What a great band! First off, everything about the song "Juice Man" is Glam. There's lyrics about partying and women and a big guitar solo. The video shows  the band in all their gritty glory, guitars in tow, hair flying.

StoneRider are on Trustkill, one of my favorite labels. The band is from Atlanta, and definitely pays tribute to their southern heritage in their guitar hooks and melodies -- yeah, they sound like a hybrid of Black Stone Cherry and AC/DC and maybe Lynyrd Skynyrd. They're not necessarily new: I've just now gotten around to listening to them proper over the past few days.

StoneRider are doing ShipRocked, so I guess I'll see them live aboard the ship.

Here's the video for "Juice Man." Watch the clip, let me know your thoughts.

Am I wrong or isn't Stonerider the remaining members of the band The Darkness?

Mike, that's Stone Gods that you're thinking of.

I saw these guys in Lexington last year, opening for Endeverafter and Airbourne. I was so impressed I bought the CD after the show. However, I think I've only listened to it once since then...I guess I'll have to dig it back out and give it another spin.

These guys are foramlly known as FightParis who were a punky "screamo" band. They have come a long way since then in refining there sound on this blistering debut. In my opinion one of the best cd's of 2008. Hopefully the labels will get a clue and sign more bands like this. If you like blusey based, balls out, sleaze, party rock this cd will not dissapoint.

No Doubt! Stonerider's album was easily one of the best of 2008. Just killer party rock with a bluesy southern twang and monster guitars. Great great stuff! and that tour last year with airbourne and Endeverafter was killer.
