Are Honeymoon Suite Glam?

I've noticed Hair Nation on satellite radio is playing a lot of Honeymoon Suite lately - specifically "New Girl Now."

I love that darn song.

The more I listen, though, I think Honeymoon Suite are more new wave then Glam. There's something about the song structure and cadence of the drums that just sounds more Cars instead of Poison. Maybe it's just me.

If you are not familiar, Honeymoon Suite are from Niagara Falls, Canada. "New Girl Now" was the band's big hit, but they've worked with a ton of famous musicians and producers and released lots of albums.

It's true the band has undergone a ton of lineup changes, but many of the original members reunited a couple years ago.

So what do you think: Glam or new wave?

Here are some videos for consideration:

"Burning in Love"

Honeymoon Suite also recorded the theme to Lethal Weapon

...and of course, "New Girl Now" (Live)

i think it sounds new wave because the vocalist sings in a lower register than most glam singers.. the guitar tone is very 80s hard rock though, and the drummer's a hard hitter :)

makes me think new wave too but some of it kinda wanders close to glam. not bad stuff tho.

I would categorize Honyemoon Suite as AOR/melodic rock. Good band...

do you even know what new wave is? honeymoon suite is miles away from new wave. not even in the same realm.

I always thought they were boring, so I vote new wave.

I don't think they are glam or new wave. Just bland, generic Crap Rock. They are the only band that I've walked out of at a concert (I won tickets). Yawn.

I don't think they are glam or new wave. I'd call them AOR more than anything. I will say that, back in the day, you would hear their music on the rock stations, but not on the stations that focused more on new wave.

they are very AOR. To compare them with another Canadian, I would say they sound more like Bryan Adams, just with a better guitar player. Too sugary for my liking, although I am friends with most of them

they had a great ballad called "what does it take" and the popular song "feel it again" , i would call them at the forefront of hair metal but they were real similar to Glass Tiger and Survivor and Loverboy all thrown into a mixer.

They did their demo for a rock FM station Q107, and the demo of New Girl Now has slightly different lyrics, "COLD WINTER NIGHTS...SNOW is in the air" vs 'Hot Summer Nights' --they are back with the 1984 original lineup, and sound 100x heavier, the drummer is hard rock all the way, he quit b/c he was told to wear makeup and lipstick or leave. He left!
