Adam Lambert Wins First Award, I Fear Desmond Child

Last night, Adam Lambert won the “Young Hollywood Artist of the Year” at the 11th annual Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles. The show wasn't televised, but some highlights will be on Entertainment Tonight.

I think it's pretty impressive Adam won the big award of the night considering he hasn't even released his first album yet. Hell, the writing process just started. All sorts of writers are working up songs and I do hope Adam stays true to his word and he maintains a high level of input. One of the biggest writers apparently pitching songs is Desmond Child.

This makes me nervous.

Desmond Child wrote dozens of big Glam hits. Name a Bon Jovi song and Desmond probably had a hand in it...Then again, he also wrote all those 90s Aerosmith ballads...you know, the songs that took all the Rocks out of my beloved favorite band. I need some grit and grime with my rock thank you. Rock songs needn't be polished like a diamond. I hope Adam dirties it up if he does, in fact, go the rock route.

There may be more Adam news this week, so be ready. The big news is an Adam Rolling Stone cover, which would be out this Friday. The rumor is that the cover is quite risqué. I hope so - I expect nothing less.

Here's some red carpet randomness.

Desmond Child will spell the end for Adam. He'll be singing 'I don't wanna miss a thing', he'll sell a ton and then never be heard of again.

Christian...that's my fear. I need Adam to get with a band (pronto!) and start writing those solid rock tunes. No 'I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing' ballads! (Ok, even though Diane Warren wrote that one, still...Desmond wrote "Angel")

I get what you're saying, but I feel certain that Adam will add his own style to whatever he is given and "dirty it up". :)

Zakk Wylde is spot on considering Aerosmith, after hiring those songwriters they became "watered shit" even Pump is massively ovverated, of the newer songs of Aerosmith I only love "What it Takes" and "Fallen Angeles"
The same goes with Alice Cooper "Trash" is cool, but is watered shit comapred to old records , and after leaving those writers behind Alice made "Along Came a Spider" awesome record.

And Bon Jovi sucks ,they made some cool songs and then decided to go pop and then country

And to add to that whole "Adam Lambert is rock God" if he can't write songs by himslef he isn't rock n' roll. Rock n' roll isn't about someone else writing your music, Adam Lambert would be like Brintey for singing different type of music, but it won't be rock n' roll as it was meant to be. Keith Richards do not hire guitar composers to write him riffs or create guitar tone

As a guitar player, I tend to agree to a point. But, are we seriously saying that we believe Vince Neil or Ozzy writes songs ? Sure, he comes up with some melodies, but it's well documented that Randy had to do a lot of work to turn his ideas into songs. Dio writes songs, he plays bass. So, I agree with Allyson, he needs to join a band, and be part of their song writing process. He does NOT need to be able to write and arrange an entire song, for all instruments, in order to be a good singer.

Yeah I agree, but Vince Neil is totally different, he is part of the band and the band makes music - as a whole.
And Desmond Child is writing lyrics etc.
I don't want Adam Lambert to came up with all instruments, but eh should write his songs considering voals melodie and lyrics alone.
Yeah but good singer isn't the same as good rock n' roll performer.
