Why Would Bret Michaels Lie About the Poison/Motley Tour?

I knew the Poison/Motley Crue tour wouldn't happen. I knew something was off about the whole bit...but why did Bret tell an audience one night that the tour was on...and the next admit to People magazine that it was all just "a pipe dream?" Seriously What gives?

What did Bret hope to gain by lying about his so-called dream tour? I read somewhere that Bret apparently said he was just trying "to push things along." Well, Bret's been in the business long enough to know how tour deals are made. Talking from the stage isn't exactly as efficient as back office negotiations.

To add salt to Bret's wound, Motley Crue have asked fans to vote on who they want to see go on the road with the band next summer. There's a conversation about the voting going on now in the community section of Motley's official website.

So, what do you think: was Bret just trying to push through the tour as he says or was this a pathetic attempt to grab headlines?

I believe that the tour is happening but I think Bret let the cat out of the bag before all the details of the tour have been finalized and contracts have been signed. I also believe that if a Motley Crue/Poison bill were to happen, all the PR machine would rather not have the announcement being made by 1 member on a stage in front of 500 people at a solo show. Does anyone really think Nikki Sixx would allow Bret to make the announcement without him being there? I am sure they would want something much more rock star, public, and extravagant. Perhaps its all part of the plan to see what kind of reaction such a billing would create. You can never tell with these rock star people. If there's money to be made, you can bet that the parties involved will make it happen

The whole controversial back and forth thing is designed to increase the hype!

When it reaches a crescendo, I can see all 8 members of both bands -- both original line-ups, lined up in a row at a huge conference table, miked up to the teeth, with Nikki and Brett side by side in the middle, gleeming from ear to ear.

This single event will do more to Bring Back Glam! than anything in a long time.

This will be a benchmark in Rock'n'Roll History, the biggest thing to happen in Rock'n'Roll since the last Zeppelin Reunion.

Now if only both bands would bother to put out killer albums of RELEVANT new material in support of this soon-to-be legendary tour, then we'd really have something to talk about.

The idea may be a pipedream right now, but sometimes pipedreams can become reality, especially if you get LiveNation in on it.

You don't think Nikki would cave if they showed him Crue could make twice as much K doing it as a double bill than solo?

He'll have the numbers crunched and he'll do it.

And then both bands could actually retire,if they chose to!

p.s. Sorry guys, still too tired to review Shiprocked! Maybe tomorrow night. Got lots of good Vince stories, hahaha!!!

I think this would be an excellent tour...and put Ratt in for good measure. Could you image....people would drive 1,000's of miles

Might have been a little of both hype and promo. At first I was excited to hear of the possibility, but the more I thought about it I dont think it would be that good (although I would go). Poison deserves to be headliners for their anniv. tour, and if they were not, fans would get a shortened, limited set and show and all the attention and time would be devoted to The Crue. Poison is best live with a full show and set as are the Crue. Combining them would be limiting,

I think there might be something in talks or in the works, and he spoke a little soon perhaps. Im not sure of the motives, but either way I am REALLY looking forward to Poison being on the road as a band again...summer isnt the same without a Poison show somewhere. \m/

Everything Bret does now is an attempt to grab headlines, stay in the limelight, etc.

Pipedream or no, this would be killer. Hell, why not prop David Coverdale up for a few hours and bring along Whitesnake? Now THAT would be da' bomb.

Bret's CELEBreality fame has him running his mouth without thinking. I'm OVER It!

HAYSEED, I've been saying the same thing for a while now. I'd love to see Whitesnake and POISON go out together. Whitesnake has been hinting about touring the US in 2011 so I think it would be a perfect fit.

Also, I'm in TOTAL agreement that Crue/Poison would be limiting to their sets.

Tommy and Vince have been very vocal about this tour NOT happening. Rikki has said that he would LOVE to see it happen.

ALL IN ALL I'M READY TO CELEBRATE 25 YEARS WITH POISON so I'm anxious to see what is actually brewing!!! They will always hold a very special place in my heart, after all, they were the ones that changed my life!

He was talking about this tour the last time I saw him in Atlantic City as well.

I find Motley Crue talking about Poison like they are beneath them to be pathetic. This is coming from guys that dressed up just as silly as Poison from their club days up until Girls, Girls, Girls

Nikki used to light his pants on fire to get people to show up in their club days.

Tommy did a reality show about going to school that basically tanked. He thinks he's a rapper and a dj and his marriage to Heather Locklear fell apart because of supposed spousal abuse. His band Method's Of Mayhem or whatever he calls it today just basically sucks.

Vince is truly king of the clowns getting his friend killed drunk driving and injuring innocent people to boot. He's had more failed marriages than Johnny Carson and he's another self absorbed reality failiure. Remember the Remaking of Vince Neil ( or whatever it was called on VH-1 ) Best part was Desmond Child telling him to keep resinging because he was light years out of key. I've seen him live Vince in key and actually singing more than half of the words would be a miracle in itself. Now Vince will be skating with the stars.

That group of guys has something to say about Poison?? Really...

Mick on the other hand deserves nothing better than to be the most sucessful guitar player in a rock band he's a cool headed straight shooter.

I think it sucks that Motley is making it like Poison is nothing special and that Motley is so much better than they are. Truth be known they are two very lucky bands that made money being mediocre musicians at best. At least Mick Mars is humble enough to tell you he's not the best guitarist on Earth and he's just a lucky guy that got to live his dream.

The other guys in Motely should only hope to grow up to be half the man that Mick is. All bands should quit acting superior to other bands and be happy that people will pay to see them at all.

Longhairedrocker; On the other hand, Mötley Crüe have done some of the most important and classic albums. Poison ow everything to Motley, they were and are nothing without Motley.

Yes, Boyz and our Glam Metal Princess...

The hell with Whitesnake, by the way... I cannot look at Coverdale's carved up face on this tour. Maybe another time...

Look, "Poison Crue 2011" would be totally killer.

Poison could play the entire "Look What The Cat Dragged In" album plus a handful of hits from the subsequent albums and Crue could do "Theatre of Pain" plus a handful of hits from the other albums, of which they have more than Poison and there's your show...

And, one helluva show it would be, Glammsterz!

Longhaired Rocker, yeah theez guyz are all the self-absorbed punks they always have been, particularly Tommy, Nikki and Brett, but whatever bad we gotta say about 'em, musicianship ain't the only thing to evaluate 'em on, as Liam points out.

Huh-uh-lo-oh!!!, you long haired hippy freak!

It's THE SONGS, THE SONGS, THE SONGS!!!

Poison's entire "Look What The Cat Dragged In" album is art, as is Motley's "Too Fast For Love" and bits and pieces of Crue's other albums, including "Theatre of Pain", which is what we will be celebrating on this tour, are also art.

It don't matter how well you play your instrument, son. It's how well you can write a song and deliver it and it ain't about pyrotechnical pinched harmonics, it's about hooks, riffs and licks.

The Sex Pistols couldn't play for sh*t, yet they revolutionized Rock'n'Roll (and pilfered Johnny Thunder's guitar tricks) and without them (and the New York Dolls), there would be no Poison or Crue!

Ya-yow! Rock'n'Roll, muthaf*ckah!

Bottom line...Bret is a douche.

I agree it is the songs. I also think the producers of all of those great cd's need to be thanked more than the bands themselves. I've heard what both bands sond like without a producer at the helm and it's not a pretty sound at all. Without great producers and lots of money sunk into them from major labels neither band would have had any success. I Love both Crue and Poison and I'd be front row for a show.

My only complaint is Motley acting like they are so much better than Poison and it's just not true. They are all just a bunch of lucky guys that got the chance to live their dream and talking like your better than someone else is just plain uncool.

I was just pointing out why Motely has nothing to brag about or act high and mighty about. Bret is just as much of a media whore as all of Motley combined but C.C. , Bobby and Rikki haven't done anything to get this flack from Motley.

LHR is onto something. Tommy Lee is a cunt. There is a reason why P!nk wrote "Last to Know" about their relationship.
