Here's the poster of bands playing Rocklahoma 2010!

I'm not completely disappointed since its only 45 minutes from my house, but I'm wondering with all the festivals that are already catering to modern bands why this one took away from what it originally started out as a HAIR Metal heyday from the 80's, I don't mind adding newer acts to the mix but they pretty much did away with everything that made this popular to begin with! Haven't they(AEG) realized to make a slow change they could have done half 80's bands and half modern bands then phaze things more to newer next year but I still think it will be sucessful because it will still draw a crowd that won't have to travel to ohio to go to ROTR but why Godsmack headlines both a little silly to me, they could've had people go to both but why if they already seen the same show basically once!

Notrocklahoma.

Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Mediocrity!

With the exception of ZZ, Cinderella, Buckcherry, Burn Halo, Wildstreet and Tesla, it's really not lookin' that great...

Definitely a long way to go for a drink.

I feel bad for anyone naive enough to pre-buy tickets to this event. We were suckered last year and would not let it happen again. Changing dates, shortening the festival, almost completely abandoning the format. Not cool, and I am sorry if you already bought tickets again. But knowing what happened last year, you should have been wary.

The big corporate structure of AEG (they are just as bad as Livenation) has sunk their teeth into Rocklahoma and killed it as well. Rocklahoma is dead as being the destination for 80's fans. This looks like every other festival that AEG puts on in the summer across the U.S.

I'd go see Cinderella, Tesla and ZZ Top, the rest is a snoozefest.

Not a bad line-up... but it's not what ROK what built around and not something worth flying 1k miles to see. Looks more like a mild Ozzfest to me.

M3 will be the place to be.

I don't despise this lineup as much as a some of my BBG brothers and sisters, but I do agree it's a lot of $$ to fly/drive to BFE Oklahoma to basically see Tesla, Cinderella, and ZZ Top (never saw them live before). Buckcherry, Saliva, and Saving Abel are all halfway decent in concert, and I used to be a big fan of Godsmack - but it was 10 years ago! More than a little repetitive since then.

Overall, definitely a departure from what made ROK original and fantastic just a few years ago.

Although I do like about 12 of those bands I wouldn't fork out big money to go to this. There is nothing memorable out the lineup. It'll be interesting to see what kind of turnout it gets this year. I was actually trying to put aside money to go this year but not now. I'll either take my money to M3 or stay local where several of these bands have played at our Common Ground MusicFest.

This is fucking bullshit why are you trying to copy rock on the range in ohio. This show brought people from all over the world to see 80’s metal not Saving Abel and zztop. Good luck tying to compete with crowds that were at previous shows. Hope you change it back to the way it was next year cause im deffintly not going this year.

Hard to justify going all that way just to see Tesla and Cinderella

I didn't think attendance was very high last year, was it? If the attendance was down, it makes business sense to change the format. Try to attract a different crowd, more people. Newer bands will do that.

I'm probably going to M3 as a part of a family vacation (staying the week following for some sightseeing in DC). I might even go to Melodic Rock Fest (Rock Sugar is playing there this year, and it would be cool to see them do their thing live). Rocklahoma has never been a serious consideration for me...too far away and too expensive.

I hate to say it, but you may be right, JT...

They had to change it up cuz of attendance issues so they figured if they got theez young and bland unrock bands, that would do the trick and they just might be right.

I heard it was kinda messed up last year tho the line up looked pretty good, but people said it was even better before that.

I seem to remember some of you guyz talkin' about it being hot as hell out there or was that Rock on the Range?

Anywho... yeah it's over xcept for ZZ and Cinderella, pretty much...

This sucks! AEG have completely changed the format... what a bunch of money hogs!

M3 is the new place for 80's hard rock and metal...

R.I.P Rocklahoma

Wow. I hope the organizers of Roacklahoma are reading forums like this. What a horrid lineup.

80'sfan!...money hogs? Of course they are...they are businessmen. If it makes good business sense to go a different direction, then go the other direction. The bands we love still exist, their former recordings are still as good as ever, and some of them are putting out great new music (Keel for example). Support them when they come to your town.

I was at a show a few weeks ago in Cincinnati, and there was a horrible turnout. Not sure if it was the genre, the venue, the promotions, or what...but there were less than 100 people in attendance. The week before that, less than 50. These are national acts, not local bar bands.

The first two years were the greatest. I am glad I spent crazy money to travel there from Michigan both years. Last years line up did not thrill me so I sold my seats and this year I just did not renew them. I am now glad for my decision. They took everything great that was Rocklahoma and got rid of it. Where's the Glam?? Cinderella is the only band I'd like to see but I have seen them many times before and could care less about anyone else on the bill. I personally hope the new vision the have for Rocklahoma BOMBS so that next year they go back to the great glam festival it was. I would attend every year if they just kept replaying the same bands from the first two years.

JT...I always hoped ROK would be the definitive home base for the 80's generation rock and metal bands, to bring back for one weekend a year the hard rockin good times of that decade. It hugely dissappoints me AEG had to take the fest modern mainstream, but as you say money is money. But I think America needs these 80's types of bands more than ever now.
February 24, 2010 | Unregistered Commenter80'sfan!
80'sfan!...I agree, we need them, and bands like them. As I mentioned, the new Keel album is fantastic. There is a CD by a band called Tunnel, which features Dave Henzerling of King Kobra on guitar. Speaking of King Kobra, they are back together and recording new music with Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt) on vocals. Crashdiet has a new album coming out soon and the first single sounds spectacular. Rock is alive...we just have to dig a little deeper to find it now.

There are other festivals out there...M3, South Texas Rock Fest, Melodic Rock Fest, and I'm sure some smaller-scale events. If you want to spend the money to go, find one that you think has the strongest lineup and go! It doesn't have to be in Oklahoma to ROCK! :)
