I Think Nikki Sixx is Mad at Perez Hilton; Media Discussion

Do you read Perez Hilton? I don't, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed (and jealous) with the brand and traffic he created. So anyway, I guess Perez wrote or Twittered or said something about Nikki Sixx and Kat Von D. Personally, I could care less about a musician's personal life. It's none of my business and that is why I never ask such questions in interviews. I don't want some stranger quizzing me about my marriage and so I try to keep the same level of respect. But anyway, Nikki is mad at Perez and here's what he wrote on his Myspace blog (verbatim copy and paste):

Scum-bags and Bottom feeders

I plan on addressing how much of scumbags the press can be on Monday's Sixx Sense show. My girl and Bam [Margera] are friends and God forbid they hang out together. In a world of fast reactions and hair trigger assuming, it's this level of press that always jumps the gun to try and get stories out before there competition, poisoning the system with gossip. Bottom feeders like PerezHilton.com or Allieiswired.com use it to drive traffic towards them for advertising dollars. So at the expense of other people's lives, there making the big bucks. What's your thoughts? Nikki

Well, what do you think? I think it's kind of cool that Nikki is using his radio show as a platform to discuss the topic of the paparazzi but all the comments on his Myspace blog were anti-media. That's not exactly the most educated opinion. You can't just wipe away a first amendment right...but stalking people via media badge isn't great, either. So, I'm curious to hear what Nikki has to say. I'll be tuning in to SixxSense Monday. Will you?

Interesting... I've gotta admit, I've only ever been driven to Perez Hilton's site when I've read somewhere else that he said something inflammatory or just downright wrong. I don't really understand what people would get out of reading it on a regular basis (other than, perhaps, some sort of brain atrophy).

But I'm not anti-media. Not at all. A strong media is necessary for a strong democracy. I read news reports from all over the world, every day.

However, there is a difference between the public's right-to-know and the media's urge-to-sensationalize. Slander and libel should definitely be off the menu, and that should include slander posted on the Internet. The First Amendment does not protect and individual's right to damage another's reputation by spreading lies. It would be great if people had a tighter international legal structure that enabled them to sue over baseless gossip. That might smarten up the standards of journalism worldwide.

But as for Perez... Really, who cares what he says? If people believe his posts then they'd believe anything. I think Nikki might be trying to save the un-saveable there. Lol!

Honestly I think that NOT saying anything would have been better. Acknowledging it gives Perez the attention he seeks and puts you on the defense. Why use your energy on that? A fine example is Sandra Bullock. It's not our business, she doesn't owe anyone her thoughts on her personal life. It should be just that - personal. But on the other hand, I would love to see Nikki knock the crap out of Perez just for the hell of it. :)

Perez might be annoying and it sounds like he's off base with his crap about Nikki, Kat and Bam, but he turned out to be right about that hypocrit freak and former Miss California USA Winner/Miss USA Runner-up, Carrie Prejean.

Let's face it, the reason why people like Perez Hilton and his ilk exist is because a large part of the general citizenry are a bunch of star f--kers. if people weren't so obsessed about what famous people do all day long, sites like Perez Hilton's wouldn't get any traffic and, consequently, no advertising dollars. We created these monsters and now we have to deal with them.

People like Perez give the press a bad name. Not all media outlets are scum bags. I admit it is sometimes fun to read the tabloids, but there is a point where they can go too far. But if they always checked their facts they wouldn't sell any magazines and Perez and his comrades wouldn't have any traffic. I am a huge fan of both Nikki and Kat and I admire him for speaking his mind but it does give Perez some of the attention he is seeking.
Personally, though, I can't stand Perez and would absolutely love to see Nikki kick his a**.

ok, so i'm a little late at posting on this one, but....I have to give Nikki kudos for calling this douchebag out. you know, this worthless twirp makes a living reporting on other peoples lives....yes, he's not alone and i have no respect for any of em. who give a crap about it really?? i think the celebrity gossip in the media has completely gone overboard! perez hilton needs to go away! However, it's obvious this subject matter hit a nerve with Nikki. Personally, I'm not a fan of the two as a couple but it's their life. I'd like to add that I wish ppl reporting on jon and kate need to fall of a cliff as well. It's their messed up world they have created, I don't need to read about it under important news headlines each day. UGh! makes my head spin, all of it.
