Accept Fan Causes Twitter Chaos

I honestly did a *face-palm* when I read that an Accept fan caused a Twitter meltdown earlier this week. I figure anytime a metal fan does something bad or stupid, there's a zillion people pointing a finger saying "See, I told you that Devil music would be the death of us all!"

The Accept fan accidentally found a bug that forced followers in Twitter. The awesome tech website Gizmodo explains the entire situation, but basically the hack was to type simply "accept username" [so for you to follow me it would be "accept bringbackglam"] and I'd be following you whether I wanted to or not.

What does this have to do with Accept? Well, apparently the overzealous Accept fan typed "Accept pwnz" in homage to the German band...and well, the hack was soon discovered. Of course the guy started "force following" all sorts of famous people. Then he blogged about it. Then Gizmodo picked up the blog and I guess everyone in the Twitterverse (except for me because I don't care) started force following celebs. So Twitter reset every user's follower/following account number back to 0 to correct the issue. Don't worry - things are back to normal.

Still, all this chaos over one metal fan showing a little cyber love for Accept. Amazing.

Follow me on Twitter @bringbackglam

Accept is currently on tour. The band will release a new album this fall.

HAHAHA! i'm not one for twitter but his is just awesome that a metalhead could cause this. Imagine if it were an even bigger band's fans.....

Whoa, Shadow! I thought "OTSK"!

"Imagine if it were an even bigger band's fans..."

Dude, first of all, the name of the band is Accept and it is the word "accept" that was key to making this whole stunt possible.

Now that's big because it gets great exposure for Accept, a band that needs it more than bigger (and crappier) bands, and you know who I mean...

As far as "bigger bands" go, sometimes maybe a band should not just be defined only by sales and overexposure, but in the quality and uniqueness of a band's music.

If you want BIG, listen to Accept's "Metal Heart" from beginning to end.

Now that's frickin' METAL!

p.s. It just so happens to be my favorite Metal album, and also my favorite Glam Metal album, tho some would argue it's not Glam Metal. I say it is, IMNSHO (In my not so humble opinion, hahaha!!!).

While I agree it sucks to put Metal in a bad light but honestly..... Twitter sucks and I think this is pretty funny that certain celebs had to have their following nukber cut back down to zero. I agree with Metalboy but in a different way. Maybe its time to re-look what makes a band good, quality of music, not how many followers someone has. As far as recent internet hackings I will take Twitter hackings to the PlayMPE hackings anyday.

Almost Lucky Mick!

You are so right. It IS funny that certain celebs had their number of followers cut back down to zero and on top of it, to find out why...

Accept Rules!

p.s. Saw 'em in '92 at Hammerjack's in Baltimore and they just absolutely flattened the place. I look forward to seein' 'em come back around with new singer, Mike Tornillo, ex-lead singer of T.T. Quick, another BIG band (not in sales or sheep following popularity but in NYC Area Metal Mad Headbanger popularity!). Check out his Bigger than BIG voice on T.T. Quick's cover of the Dave Clark Five's classic, "Glad All Over", to see why Accept grabbed him! Killer! Also, you should know that Wolf Hoffman, Accept's lead guitarist is a Julliard trained classical guitarist and is married to Gaby Hauke, their former manager who also wrote most of Accept's song lyrics under the pseudonym "Deaffy".

Okay, I can't believe I'm saying this but, read the review of Accept's 5/10/10 show in NYC by Eddie Chump on Accept's web site.

Also, it's reported on their site they are headlining dates and opening for AC/DC throughout Germany.

Their new song (Teutonic Terror) is pretty fantastic.

I meant like Metallica and ACDC. Of course i know Accept is huge but there are bigger bands this is what i meant. Taking into Context that its the word Accept that caused the whole incident does make it there thing though.

And yes metal heart does rock, glam sounding meh, true thought that this is its genre.

JT- I think you said right!?!?!?!

I like 'em better than Metallica, so in my book, they're bigger.

Get my train of thought? My idea of "bigness" is not about album sales or sheep following.

It's about the true greatness of the music, and to me, they run circles around borefest Metallica.

But that's just me, I guess...

p.s. As far as AC/DC goes, there's no way Accept could have existed without AC/DC as I actually think AC/DC is Accept's primary influence.

But the same theory in no way applies to Metallican't as it's evident Accept is in no way influenced by anything Metallican't has ever done.
