Guns n' Roses Will Play the Rock n' Rev Festival (Hint: It's in America!)

The inaugural Rock N' Rev festival, scheduled for Aug. 9-13 to coincide with the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota, just made a major announcement: Guns n' Roses will play the festival.

Holy Glam!

The festival will officially be held at Monkey Rock USA in Sturgis.

The Monkey Rock site is on 25 acres. In addition to Guns n' Roses, a whole slew of other bands will play including Daughtry, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Godsmack, Skillet, 3 Doors Down, Hinder, Three Days Grace, Wolfmother, Eagles Of Death Metal, Hellyeah, Creed, Pop Evil and more.

Now, here's the amazing thing: tickets start at $45 and a 5 day pass is $150 bucks. Since I've never seen Guns n' Roses, I'd consider them worth the price of admission alone. From what I understand, there are some VIP packages too. I'm no biker, but someday I want to experience Sturgis. It's one of those "do before you die" sort of things. If I wasn't already committed to Rock n' America and Lollapalooza, I'd be at this fest for sure.

So, how late will Axl and the rest of Guns n' Roses take the stage at this event? I'm saying four hours late minimum.

I would be torn on this one. GNR today is not GNR of 20 years ago, and even Axl alone is not Axl of 20 years ago. The live recordings I have heard sound terrible (and I'm one of the few that likes Chinese Democracy). Even though the band is good (love Bumblefoot) the singer is bad.

Especially if you have heard Myles Kennedy belt out "Nightrain," "Civil War," etc. He doesn't have Axl's trademark screech, but he can really sing those GNR songs well.

That said, I might go to the GNR show just to say I've been to a GNR show...even though I don't really consider it GNR.

See why I'd be torn?

Ive seen the "new" GNR twice and they were great both times. And Chinese Democracy is a masterpiece. Its a real shame that its over 95% of the fans' heads.

Wonder if Axl will make 20,000 drunken bikers wait 3 or 4 hours past the scheduled starting time to take the stage "to build suspense" like he's apt to so often do?? LMFAO

Kenny - I liked ChiDem, my issue is that Axl plays almost all songs from Appetite, but he needs 3 guitars, keys and two drummers to do it. It's just not the same, it was overblown and plain boring.

Ya Axl today is not the Axl of yesterday but he is the closest thing to it that you'll ever see again. Go see for yourself.

Geez Axl isn't that late , at Sweden Rock Festival I was in front row next to stage and he was like 45-50 minutes late, he was late like more than 1,5 on few dates in 2010, and he sings awesome, he still got the voice, it is great shows. Guitar players are great and there is great chemistry between guys in the band.
