What if Fergie and Slash Formed a Band?

I'm not really into the Black Eyed Peas but I always dug Fergie when she was in Wild Orchid. That's neither here nor there. Slash played the Sunset Strip Music Festival over the weekend and Fergie helped him out. She has a great rock voice that's basically wasted in the Black Eyed Peas. I have to admit being impressed with Fergie and Slash's rendition of Heart's "Barracuda." Check it out:

I know it's trendy these days for rock bands to have a female singer. Too bad most of those bands are screamo and you can't really enjoy the vocals. Why can't we have a massive arena band featuring an icon like Slash and someone with a great set of pipes like Fergie? Of course, the obvious solution is to have Fergie front Velvet Revolver.

What do you think?

Undeniable. Wow, who knew Fergie could sing like THAT?

I think it would sound great. Her track on Slash's solo record and her version of "Paradise City" are great (but would have been greater without Cypress Hill). I'm a fan of the Black Eyed Peas, and Fergie's solo record, and love how she keeps it fresh with Slash at the same time. Would love to hear more from her on the rock side.

God no. That's the worst idea I've ever heard. Chick vocalists ruin rock music, it makes it sound so lame. I admit enjoying the Fergie track off Slash's album but if Slash employed her as lead singer of VR I'd lose all respect for him.

I caved and watched this footage yesterday and WOW, was I impressed! When I think Fergie I still think Stacey from K.I.D.S Incorporated (yes, I'm a child of the 80s) and I must admit I do like some of the BEP's music. "I Gotta Feeling" will be one of those songs always associated in my home town with our SUPER SAINTS winning season last year. HOLY GLAM, this girl can sing! I'm not a big fan of the song but I thought she certainly did it justice.
She and Slash have been singing off and on together for a few years now and I don't think I'd want them to be in a full fledged band together, I think its great they collaborate from time to time! OK, that's my .02 for the day....

I meant to say I'm not a big fan of the song "Barracuda"

I think the Fergie/Slash thing is really cool on an occasional basis. As a full time replacement for Weiland in VR, I'm not so sure.

The fucking girl has a set of pipes on her, that's for sure. Ann Wilson would be proud of that job she did on Barracuda.

Fergie would NEVER leave Black Eyed Peas to join VR. Dont get me wrong, I think BEP sucks ass, but theyre one of the top selling bands in the world right now. Her leaving and going to VR would be a HUGE step backwards for her. I would be all for it. Scott Weiland sucks and she would even be better than him.

Yikes. The first high note in 'sweet child o mine' sounds like somebody ran over a cat. with a lawnmower.

Scott Weiland was a fucking awesome frontman for Velvet Revolver, even if he is a filthy grunger. Fergie woukd not be an adequate replacement in any way.

The girl can sing, for sure, but let's keep it all the way it is. Then again, she could put out a hard rock record, or better yet, a GLAM METAL album, as a solo artist and it would be KILLER!

But would it sell?

Actually, it just might, as she's someone who has the star power to shine the proper light on the music we all know and love.

Besides Slash, I'd like to see Fergie team up with a bunch of different guitarists. Orianthi, for example, as long as Fergie can keep her claws in check (I saw Fergie in The Hamptons a few years back and man, what a Diva, and I don't mean that in a good way...)...

I must admit, I usually dismiss Fergie and the BEP (not my cup of tea), but then she keeps going and proving me wrong: Her track on Slash's record, her appearance with Mick Jagger and U2 on Gimme Shelter (She killed on the vocals!) at the R & R Hall of Fame concerts last year, and now her version of Heart's Barracuda w/ Slash. I'm actually impressed.

Now if she would just forget all the dance crap and focus solely on rock music...
