Black Veil Brides, 'Unholy'
Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 12:02AM
My girl Kari turned me on to this song. Black Veil Brides covered the KISS classic "Unholy." The song features Zakk Wylde, too. The song is basically awesome and is featured on the new EP Rebels. True Glam people. Watch.

Nobody's stealin' from Zakk Wylde! Next time read the post! He's on the dang record!
It's not quite as good as the original but it still ROCKS a plenty.
I happen to like their cover of "Rebel Yell" much better. And believe it or not, I actually like it better than the original despite the fact that I'm a big Billy Idol fan, though more for his Generation X stuff.
I happen to like Black Veil Brides despite their penchant for the screamo schtick at one point in nearly every, if not all, of their songs. It really is annoying but I guess it's some kind of call to arms for Today's Metal Kidz.
p.s. I bought this E.P. yesterday on iTunes. You gotta hand it to them. They show you the week's latest Metal releases based on your musical taste you set by your preferences and previous purchases.
I really like this band, for they really bring it.
The cover songs are very well done and for Zak to jump on board, says a lot. Keep the rock alive..even if there is a little screamo in there. I hated it at first, but it is growing on me.
I'll still take my Ratt or Cinderella first any day.
KUDOS TO BVB! I LUV IT!!!
Scott's post didn't say that someone is copying Zakk's style on this record. His point is, and I agree with him, that Zakk basically plays that same squealing solo way too often. couple that with the fact that many people have copied his style and you have a situation where, even though it is Zakk playing on the record, the solo sounds like it's been done a million times already. a little reading comprehension goes a long way Metalboy. :)
As for the cover itself, I guess it's okay. I give them credit for picking that song, but I'm not impressed with how they covered it. BVB is a band that I just don't understand the hype about.
I also think BVB did a pretty cool job on this.
People actually listen to these clowns?
Yet another band of punx to carry the torch for us,
p.s. My sentiments, exactly, Kari, as you more than well know, wink, wink! Kenny O, I don't really listen to 'em but I listen to this and "Rebel Yell", which I think is better, like I said, in my Nu Metal mix. I hear you guyz -- "Unholy" is fairly straight up, but it's just freshened up enuff for me to listen to the song again. Often what occurs for me with many of the originals is that I fried 'em out so bad, back in the day, I can barely listen to 'em now. When new bands tweak 'em up with nice covers, I can listen to the songs all over again. They breath new life into songs I took for dead a long time ago. "Unholy", for example -- one of my fave Kiss songs -- when I got the "Revenge" album, I played "Unholy" over and over for like a week, jumpin' up and down in my apartment in NYC, doin' my solitaire air guitar thing until I killed it. These guyz re-animated the tune for me. Check out "Rebel Yell", too!
p.s.s.t. Nice, Christian! Forget the band tryin' to earn a living. I love ya, kid, but is that really a fair way to operate? Metal and music in general is under siege and one of the big reasons is a mindset like that. If you like it and you want to listen to it but the only way you can own it is on iTunes, why can't you do the right thing? Is it the whole "Apple is the Evil Empire" thing or maybe it's cheaper? The answer is easy -- support the bands if ya like their music!
The real question is, "Do you want to live a knock-off life?"
Bobby Baby, need ya to go out to the Apple Store and buy yourself a REAL computer for the Holidays and crank up the iTunes. You'll thank me as soon as you do.
Or... You can always tell me to "F*CK OFF!", hahaha!!!
I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time!
