Steelheart has a new single! The band has recorded a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic "Black Dog." It's awesome. Check it out. After you listen, download free from the band's website.

Won't listen. Who needs another version of a song thats over 30 years old? Stupid. I know that dude can sing. Make some original music tour the U.S. and then they can attempt to be relevant.

I'll take another version of it,now that I've listened to it.(of course I'm an old bastard who grew up on Zep!! lol)

They smoke it!! Mikey M. could definitely fill right in for Mr. Plant if Zep would ever gets off their collective asses and do that long rumored tour.Guy has incredible pipes,as we've all known for a long time now.

I like it! Michael Matijevic does an effortlessly killer job here. I swear that dude's vocal chords are double jointed or something!

What's most interesting is the instrumentation and production on it. It's way hip and not just a straight up or genericized (is that a word? Spellcheck is tellin' me no, but you get the idea.) version.

Instead we are delivered a way cool "fresh" version. Love the opening and the stutter and stop guitarwork throughout.

And what a great idea, Gary! Page SHOULD get Matijevik to tour with him, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham! The heck with Plant, who is really out of favor with me, now, to put it mildly. And to heck with Coverdale as (from what I've heard) he doesn't seem to be giving it his all anymore.

Here we've got Matijevik sounding primed and and relaxed. He could do it in his sleep and this cover is his first audition!

Yeah, Plant is staying away. And the rumour is Page cannot be counted on for a whole tour -- that he's inconsistent.

Come on! Even if Page might be a little "off" one night or something, is that the end of the world? I'd take half a Jimmy Page anyday over a whole Slash or Perry.

Besides, I bet Matijevik would get Page inspired.

Hey, maybe Gary's onto something. This track and Gary's insight is an Omen to the possibility they could get together! Hell, let's go VIRAL with it right now. I will call Jimmy Page's office tomorrow and recommend he audition Matijevic immediately!

Hey, you never know!

p.s. And you are SO right, too, Bri. Never let the Neandering Nabobs of Negativity throw you off your real opinion!

A LZ cover? Really? *yawn* I'll pass..

I thought it was alright. They did put there little touches on it. The singer does have some pipes on him. However, doing a LZ cover especially this one is kind of "eh". Out of the LZ catalog this is probably in the Top 10 of songs we have heard way too much.

Dunno, boyz. I always like me a descent Zep cover. Especially the ones from the 80's that have that little extra crunch and 80's production value.

Probably the finest example is Great White's Zep Tribute album. Sone other great Zep covers are Toxik's version of "Out On Th

Oops! I'm typin' this on my new iPad and I randomly touched "Create Post" when I shoulda still been typin' "Out On The Tiles", which, as I mentioned, was excellently covered by Toxik.
They actually kinda fixed the song, I think, cuz they added a killer lead toward the end.

Also a band called Crash recorded a killer version of "Rock And Roll" back in the day!

However, the coolest Zep cover ever has to be "Stairway To Gilligan" by Little Roger And The Goosebumps from '79. What's so cool about it? It's got the words to the TV theme song of "Gilligan's Island" set to the music of "Stairway".

And there are other cool zecovers like "Moby Dick" and "Rock And Roll"
