Help Me Spend My iTunes Gift Card

One of my friends gave me an iTunes gift card for no reason. She's just that awesome! So, I accepted the card (free music!) and placed it in my purse. The other day I moved the card to the drawer of my night stand. Why did I do this? Because I had no idea of what to buy. It's true: I'm sitting on free music and just have zero idea of what to purchase. So I'm leaning on you like I have so many times in the past.

What would you buy if someone handed you an iTunes gift card? I want something awesome (obviously) and I'd prefer something new. I don't want ANY classic Glam (because I've basically got it all) and I'm trying to get into some new bands. Remember, if it isn't necessarily melodic, then I like it heavy. Mix the two and you're golden. So help me here: what should I buy with my gift card? I always love your band selections and to hear of all the great tunes you've discovered. Go!

I just heard a few tracks from Diamond Lane, can't wait to get my "ears" on the rest of it.

Look Up...

I Know who you did last summer

Two newer bands I really like are Edguy and Airborne, definately heavy and melodic. Edguy is my favourite of the two. If you are not familar check out their compilation album "The Singles".

A classic band with a new album out that I am loving this summer is Night Ranger's Somewhere in California.

Good luck - itunes gift cards are awesome!
the Biters newest ep...cant go wrong with that one.

Funny thing, Al -- These days most of the stuff I get on iTunes are songs or entire albums by new bands (depending on how much bread I've got in the bank or how solid an album may be).

I realize a lot of people don't buy music, let alone iTunes, for that matter, but if you do buy music and don't mind paying a premium, as you get a high quality download when you do, as well as do right by the bands, it really is astonishing what you can find on there. They don't have everything, but they do have a h*lluva lot!

I know you said you weren't really interested in any "Classic" Glam Metal as you've basically got it all (Ha! You'd be surprised what you don't have, as even I, Metalboy!, am constantly unearthing stuff and many times discovering it on iTunes!), but for those who don't "have it all", iTunes is a great place to find it (i.e. Keel's full blown Glam Metal early 90's cover of Patty Smith's hit, "Because The Night", written by Bruce Springsteen, anyone?), though last time I checked, they still don't have AC/DC or Def Leppard. For some reason, they can finally get the Beatles, but not these biggies.

But here is sampling of iTunes suggestions (some Glam, some not. some Old School, some not) you might wanna check out (goin' to my purchased list)...

Crazy Lixx, American Heartbreak, Hell N' Diesel, Crossfire, Rootboy Slim, Crack The Sky (1st album -- a true "sleeper" 70's masterpiece), Teddybears ("Punkrocker", featuring Iggy!), Divinyls, Kid Ego (with Nazareth!), T.S.O.L., The Crybabys, Concrete Blonde, Motorcycle Boy, Blackthorne, Sunstorm & Joe Lynne Turner, Plasmatics, Stereoside, Zan Clan, Big Elf, The Used, Surf Punks, The Simpletones, Agent Orange, The Pandoras, The Rattlers, Skillet, Theory Of A Deadman, Spectre General, Hungryheart, Cry of Love, The Hellacopters, Crooked X, Atom Smash, The Veer Union, The Answer, Cowboy Prostitutes, Gunfire 76, 77, Bullet, Sideburn,
Kortini, Million Dollar Reload, Wired Desire, Night Horse, Bible of the Devil, The Erotics, Rocket To Ruin, Stampede Queen, Adrenalin Factor, Darlings of Chelsea, New Device, Bombay Black, Chinatown, Babylon Bombs, Dear Superstar, Electric Mary, Heaven's Basement, Volbeat, Soho Roses, Wednesday 13, NOFX, blotto, Freakshow, Nasty Idols, Rockets To Ruin, Tango Down, American Sixgun, Thieves & Liars, CRUNCH, Alabama Thunderp*say, Fireball Ministry (who have THE coolest logo, BTW), Shameless, Peep Show, Taking Dawn, The Wildhearts, Black Spider, Brand New Sin, Places of Power, The Moxy, Lordi, Snew and, last but not least, The Bones.

I skipped stuff I thought you might have and please forgive me if I mentioned something you already have suggested in one of your posts. As we all can see, Rock'n'Roll is a lot to keep track of!

Bad City's Cd is the sh@t!!!!! Been wearing that out for awhile.
I don't know if they are on iTunes but Sex Slaves are pretty good. Nice Christian Metal band.
just kidding.
Hellen-Sorry for Screaming. modern 3-piece with the singer playing drums and she is awesome.
I will disagree about the new Black n Blue. thought it was very unoriginal and hardly enjoyable.

This may not be as glam as you want, but Butch Walkers new song (from his upcomming album) called Summer of 89 is awesome! He is getting back to the old Butch it seems with this release.
