Jake E. Lee Is Back And Looking For A Vocalist

Are you a singer looking for a gig? Guitarist Jake E. Lee may want to hear from you.

Apparently Jake is in the process of recording a new record and he needs a singer to lay down tracks. The chosen singer will also tour the world with Jake during 2013. The singer must be able to perform some Ozzy Osbourne and Badlands songs.

Jake is also collaborating with some famous musicians for his new record including Robin Zander and Paul Di'Anno.

If you want to give it a shot, send an email to Ronnie@HideoutLV.com containing an MP3 or a link to an MP3 of yourself singing an Ozzy or Badlands song. You'll also need to submit a sample of you performing another song as well. If Jake likes what he hears, you'll be contacted.

I can't help but wonder if this means we'll be seeing Jake and his new lineup at M3 Rock Festival in May? We can only hope I guess. I'm glad he's back in action. It's been a very long time.

Thank you, JAT, for correcting Bob on the whole Hughes issue. Iommi and Hughes continued to collaborate after the disaster that was SS (the tour, not the album). Why? Hughes was a basket case, with so many demons that he couldn't function properly. Why? Iommi wanted to Hughes to contribute to his solo album (SS as it was originally conceived) and respected his abilities . . . when he wasn't binging and purging, drinking and dosing. Go back and read some of the articles from that time. It sounds like an awful mess. A talent singer on the skids, a once powerful band limping along, and a host of other issues that were worthy of Spinal Tap (and were, in fact, an inspiration).

That said, I have serious misgivings about this call. While Lee is better than some random "send me an email" sort of audition process, perhaps he is reduced to this approach as a consequence of the state of music today. Clearly, Lee knows people in the business. Clearly, he also knows people who (know people who) can spot exception unheralded talent. So why this approach? It seems more LA Guns than Badlands. More Tony Martin than Ozzy. It suggests something less than Lee is capable of, entitled to, and deserving of receiving.

That said, I have to respect Metalboys! knowledge of contacts at Hideout Recording Studios and the whole idea that a Corabi and Lee connection could be possible. Corabi is no Gillen is no Neil is no Hughes. But the combination of talent could be impressive . . . in a way this release was not.

Lee was forced to sacrifice input in Ozzy Corp., was reduced to watching a powerful band (and singer) die. If this is his road back, I wish him all the best. He is so much more that _The Ultimate Sin_ (and the parts therein that people likely never heard).

Honestly, I didn't know about Hideout, but now I do, thanks to you, HIM. Maybe Ace knows them over there or someone else, for that matter, who could get Corabi and Lee in the studio to see if some sparks fly (in a good way, of course).

Come to think of it, isn't Robby Crane available since he just quit Lynch Mob. These guys obviously think somewhat alike, having all done time in RATT. Plus, I always thought Badlands, Lynch Mob and The Scream kind of have a similar vibe (the latter of the three to a lesser degree, maybe).

Now all they need is a drummer. Jason Bonham, perhaps?

p.s. Bonham is someone who's wallop could really back a monster like Lee!

Old post, I know. But I assumed Metalboy! had some sort of inside track from the comment "I'm gonna suggest Corabi to Ronnie right now." There I go again, deferring to things that are only implied. Either way, it is a potential line of communication considering how "low key" the announcement was to begin with.

And who knows about Hughes (heck, even Bonham) right now?!!? The whole BCC thing seems to be getting a bit tense, especially between Hughes and Bonamassa. Though it is more likely that BCC will simply hire on a touring guitarist (as Chickenfoot did with drummers when Smith had other commitments), you can never tell with such tightly-wound super-groups.
