President Obama Pays Tribute to Led Zeppelin

No matter your politics, you have to give it up for Led Zeppelin. The band received Kennedy Center Honors last weekend.

The show will be broadcast on Dec. 26 on CBS.

Before the gala show which featured a big tribute to Zeppelin, President Obama paid respect to each of the honorees, which also included Buddy Guy, David Letterman, ballerina Natalia Makarova and Dustin Hoffman. Each honoree received the traditional rainbow-colored slash and medallion from the President.

BO should have looked Robert Plant straight in the eyes and asked him "when are you guys going to get around to touring?" LOL. (Plant is the numbnutz that is holding things up from everything I've read) Newsflash Robert.Nobody really cares about your solo shit or duo's with Allison Krauss (except maybe for ALLISONS fans). For Chrissakes man, get off your high horse and do this before it's too late....

This is SO cool! President Obama's comments addressing Led Zeppelin's hotel hijinks are hillarious! I can't wait to see the broadcast of the tribute performance featuring Anne and Nancy Wilson, Foo Fighters and Kid Rock.

Watch their extremely funny interview on "The Late Show with David Letterman" last Monday:

p.s. And I agree with Gary. Why can't Plant go for ONE more tour? Now IS the time!

One of the reasons Plant won't do a tour is he knows he can't sing the Led Zeppelin songs anymore night after night. At least he is smart enough to know his voice would not hold up for a whole tour.

As much as I would like to see them tour, I get the feeling this would be like Van Halen's last tour. First shows are great then the singer's voice gets worse and worse.

Maaaaan he can read a teleprompter well!!!!!! Does not know squat about Zeppelin but made everyone feel like he did (which is his job; I do understand).

But major kudos to his speech writers for some very good work. I can sense his speech writers sittin around when they were writing this sayin'..."Should we mention the fish in the room?!?!? We gotta! No, we cant. We'll get fired :)"

That woulda been sick. Imagine the news when the fact checkers on the right would have "uncovered" the legendary story about that debauchery. I can see it on Fox now "Obama advocates bands using fish as sex toys with young possibly underage women. Fish and perhaps the women were distraught. Full investigation with possible legal issues pending.

To crazies out there..... I am neither left nor right. They are all out for themselves and not you and I. Peace.

Both Velonese & Kixchix are right. Robert's voice simply can't DO the Led Zep material anymore. To go out & tour now would be to destroy the legend that has been built up since the 70's. At least he's being honest & not going to take millions of dollars for sub-par performances. Even Jimmy Page said it. "I don't think you should expect any more performances". Let it lie.

As for Obama, aside from when he was getting stoned with the Choom Gang in a VW bus when he was in high school, he hasn't a clue who they are.

And for the younger kiddies going "What fish story?" ...
1969, Les Zeppelin were fishing out the windows of their hotel room, & caught mudsharks. They proceeded to tie up an under-aged groupie and anally & vaginally insert these small sharks into her orifices. Gross.

They should've done an interview with howard while they were in new york. The letterman interview was lame.

What a bunch of naysayin' trolls.

And how do we know The President doesn't know about Led Zeppelin? And I thought the interview on Letterman was hysterical.

FYI, Kix Chix: They ALL use teleprompters. Except Palin. She reads what she writes on her palms.

Metalboy, did i say he was only one to use telepromptor? nope. Please read the last sentence of my previous post. Be nice little boy.

O's spotify playlist nor either time he publicly posted his iPod playlists (2008 & 2012)showed any evidence that the Prez knows who Zeppelin is, or was. The Fugees,Jay Z, Beyonce & Stevie Wonder all got mentioned. The Tin Blimp, not.

"AP
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama's iPod could pass for a voter outreach tool.

Interviewed Monday on Cincinnati radio station WIZF, Obama ran through his musical tastes, an eclectic and all-encompassing list of artists and tracks that reflect the varied coalition of voters he is seeking to attract.

Asked what was on the "presidential iPod," Obama replied that he had "a pretty good mix."

"I've got old school - Stevie Wonder, James Brown. I've got Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan," he said.

There are also plenty of tracks that young voters might have downloaded to their own collections.

"And then I've got everything from Jay-Z, to Eminem, to the Fugees, to you name it. There's probably not a group that you play that I don't have on my iPod," Obama told the station's E.J. Greig.

For the voters whose tastes are more esoteric, "I've got some jazz - John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Gil Scott-Heron," the president said, adding, "You've got to mix it up. It just depends on what mood I'm in."

No mention of The Boss, Bruce Springsteen, who has been campaigning for Obama.

Or country music. That vote tends to tilt to the other guy."

Just because you are "honoring" someone doesn't mean you have to like them.

Just look at the list and compare who was in office at the time:

Still waiting on this FORWARD thing...

GNR's got it right, Ace. Plus, in all seriousness, do you really think Obama didn't know who Zeppelin is? You'd have to be deaf or dead to have never heard "Stairway To Heaven".

And, no doubt, he got an earful a week ago last Saturday when stalwart Republican and former Romney Supporter, Kid Rock, along with Democrats Anne and Nancy Wilson, Foo Fighters and Jack Black all paid tribute.

You will see our President and First Lady participating in the standing ovations for those performances on December 26th on CBS from 9 PM - 11PM.
