De La Cruz, 'Back to the 80s'

Holy crap! Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Just get thee to the De La Cruz website and download the band's self-titled debut album. This is like a modern Def Leppard people - you know, if it was still 1987 or something.

Australia's own  De La Cruz has a ton of potential and could really go a long way in our cause to bring back glam. Seriously. Check them out below. Maybe if enough of us download the EP and create enough buzz, the band will get signed.

Exactly Brian. Are they "borrowing" from the past? Absolutely. But the 80's "borrowed" from the 70's and 60's'who borrowed from the 50's.And they ALL basically ripped off the Delta Bluesmen from the early part of the 20th century. There are 7 major chords/Keys. They've all been done to death a million times over......8>)

Yeah, Fish? Remember, it's not how good you play, it's what you play. That's Rock & Roll! Technical proficiency ain't nothin' if the music yer playin' suxx and this ROXX!

I'm always playin' the music. hell, some might say I walk a tightrope between being the ice cream man and telling the world to stay frosty

Hmm, I have mixed emotions about this song. It's not bad to listen to, but it sounds so much like Def Lep that I'm wondering what's the point? There's a difference between borrowing and outright mimicry.

That said, maybe their sound will become more original as they progress. the band '77, which Metalboy knows I love, sounded exactly like Bon scott era ACDC on their first album. Now, although they still have a similar vibe, they've found a way to develop their own sound without losing that feel. Hopefully De La Cruz will follow that same path and find their own voice.

Bob! You turned me onto '77 a couple of years ago, and for that I am forever thankful.
