Texas Hippie Coalition, 'Turn It Up' -- New Video

Texas Hippie Coalition will release Peacemaker on August 14. The first single from that album is "Turn It Up" and the band just released a video supporting the song. Oh my.

I'm sort of mesmerized by the "Turn It Up" video and I don't know why. I wouldn't necessarily call the song or the video good, per se. It's certainly not inventive. But it's not heinous either. Maybe that means the clip is just bad? By the by, "Turn It Up" isn't party rock along the lines of Poison, but the fun vibe is definitely there. Also, I'm completely over a million strippers in every metal video. Seriously? Can't we find something new to make cliché?

Always liked these guys. This song kicks ass! As for the strippers in this vid, considering the lyrics in the verses of the song, they're kind of integral to the story....

Agree strippers were needed here. I meant cliche overall.I really like THC myself actually.

What is this a cover from? Rackin my brain because I know the lyrics-early 90's late 80's...????

I hear ya Ally. The cliche (strippers) has been beat to death in the video realm, going all the way back to Girls Girls Girls (Not that I personally mind, however. LOL)

Stuck in my head all day-then I realized this is a rip off of Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm by Crash Test Dummies. Listen to the first verse, then listen to Crash Test Dummies...they lifted the music and changed the lyrics for strippers.

Be original or go home.

Never liked this band. And this song and video do nothing to change my mind.

The guitar riff reminds me of Click Click Boom by Saliva. I live in Houston and I don't really like these guys. I want to but it does nothing for me. On the video, while the strippers may be cliche I do enjoy a band that act like rock stars.

Yeah, but to the best of my knowledge, this is the first time I've ever seen strippers sharing the stage with a kick a*s Rock and Roll band that double as a comedy act.

Huh-uh-lo-oh!!! C-O-M-E-D-Y !!!

Not only do these guys R-O-C-K, they're funny as h*ll, too! Always L-O-V-E-D this band. See, as long as the music ROCKS, it duzn't matter if it ain't 100% Glam.

I would argue there's trace GLAM in their stuff, tho, even though they and the closet GLAM-O-PHOBES lurking here in the comments section (intruders) would sooner die than admit it.

I hear traces of Junkyard, Dangerous Toys, ZZ Top and most obviously, Pantera, who they obviously worship. But I actually like these guys better than Pantera. They're catchier. They're POP compared to Pantera. That's it, THC is a catchy pop Pantera! luv it!

p.s. Let's not forget, Pantera, when they were good, we're a Glam Metal band! I know that fact just kills the fakers on here. Check out their first two albums. KILLER!

Forgot to mention the primary comedic focal point is the XXXL singer. The twist is how his voice is completely KILLER!

Note to Blue Jay: Yeah but is "Mmm Mmm Mmm" really all that original? If they did lift it from 'em, thank the Metalgods because they frickin' fixed it. Crash Test Dummies frickin' S*CK !!!

Wow, Metalboy commenting on a Non-Glam post?? What happended to the "I'm gonna camp out in the Cheap Trick post, blah, blah blah..."

Anyone who knows anything about this band, knows that there is nothing Glam about them.

Look out, you may even learn something here, and enhance your music pallet if you are not careful.

Then again, anyone can go to Wikipedia and learn about a band and post on here to look semi-knowedgeable about the genre....right?

Jeff... If someone thinks Wikipedia is even "semi-knowedgeable" they will not look very knowledgeable anyway. If I needed facts... I would never use Wikipedia.

Jeff. Did you read what I wrote? I've liked these guys for years -- ever since Allyson first posted on 'em. They're Pop. There are traces of Glam in their music, whether you choose to hear it or not. I also acknowledged their Pantera obsession.

I don't have a problem with Non Glam Acts getting showcased on this site. THC is a genuine ROCK & ROLL band unlike that Nicklehack shite who are a bunch of poseurs who accidentally wound up with one really good song, "Animals".

p.s. I ended my strike after I saw enuff REAL Glam Metallers posting' on Cheap Trick/Bon Jovi and more Glam Metal focused content appearing in recent posts. Besides, I couldn't afford to keep paying my spokesman. And I don't go on Wikipedia except for occasional fact checking. All of my comments stem from seein' shows and collecting thousands of Hair and Glam Metal CDs for years -- mostly of bands you've not only never heard of, but never even heard! Quit while your ahead, punk!

And how come ya can't comment on Cheap Trick/ Bon Jovi? Maybe YOU don't know anything about the genre either to be able to comment authoritatively. Why donchya just run along on back to little ol' Noisecrap or Blubbermouth where ya belong, hater!
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Wow metal (Wikipedia) boy strikes again! Keep dreaming pal I was into glam and hair bands long before you ever heard about the genre. Don't embarrass yourself anymore.
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJeff
Of course you liked those guys for years (rolls eyes). Nothing like commenting on every story to make one seem knowledgeable SMH.
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJeff
That is a kick ass song.
June 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBrian L
Hahaha!!!, Jeff. If you knew anything you would have known Pantera was a Glam Metal band for their first two albums.

Crüe was and forever will be Glam Metal and over a third of Allyson's posts you flagged as Non-Glam Metal actually ARE about at least some aspect of Glam Metal. The fact that you can't tell the difference is proof you're nothing but a Sam Dun disciple (and thus a virtual know-nothing when it comes to anything Metal) who's obviously lost your way off Blabbermouth or some sh*t.

A far as commenting on every post -- I comment on about 90%. What so wrong with that? There are a handful of us who do and Allyson welcomes it. I'm sure she would welcome yours here, too, ya joyk!
