The Darkness, 'Everybody Have A Good Time' -- New Video

Happy July and rejoice! The Darkness just released the video for “Everybody Have A Good Time.”

I'm pretty sure this video uses historical footage of pre-2008 private meetings at Lehman Brothers when the firm was basically guessing what sort of low-grade tranches to package and resell inside of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs). You know, before the entire banking collapse. Of course we can't be sure. At any rate, the video is cute and clever.

The song will be on the upcoming album Hot Cakes, due out at the end of August.

I love the Darkness for the sheer spectacle of it. And it is nice to see Hawkins get things in order and bring the fans a nice dose of great sounding music.

But I have to say: Allyson, have you ever considered joining Duff in bring some economic sense to the metal masses? If people didn't know something, they will now look it up. And if they did, they will be (as was I) grinning from ear to ear at your commentary.

Seriously, the unexpected (and, yes, the expected) is why I love this site, our humble guide, and the legions who populate the posts.

Have a great 4th everyone.

SMASH HIT!

p.s. Circa 1975, that is. Looks like this album is headed to the very top of my list of "The Top 10 Albums of 2012". And the video is sublimely subversive on every level. I've got everything Justin Hawkins has put out on CD, whether it's The Darkness, Hot Leg or his solo stuff, it's all brilliant (well, that second Darkness album was a little spotty). The guy's a genius! The Darkness is the biggest thing to happen to Bring Back Glam! since Buckcherry "Lit Up".

WTF?!?!? And I mean that in a good way. Always nice to see bands have fun as opposed to that false white trash bravado of Write This Down. The song is just kind of eh to me. Love this band but the 2 songs I have heard are not as good as I have hoped. I will still but it it though.

Yaay! I really like the song. After the plain show at Sweden Rock I wasn't that excited, but now I'm curious about their new album again. Can't wait!

Good song. One thing about the Darkness, they sure know how to write a hook! Great guitar tones, too.

cant wait for this album either...on another note,..I'm gonna go see SkidRow and Tesla tonight in MI...I am gonna seekout Frank Hannon and tell him that Metalboy says "hello"....

Hahaha!!! At least that concert won't be a total waste, Toddwiggy!

p.s. For a reality check on your dear friend Frank, go to VH1Classic's site and review (as in fast forward through) the episode featuring special guest guitarist, Mr. Frank Hamfiston "playing" intros and outros of the commercial pods of the show. Then go to the episodes featuring Steve Stevens and Michael Schenker as guest guitarists. Not only is he a self important jack*ss off stage, he's a... Well, review the episodes. I rest my case.

And speaking of Rock Cruises, I wish the promoters of The Monsters of Rock Cruise would add THE DARKNESS. They still have a huge void left in the roster since Cinderella, Stryper and UFO aren't coming back. I really wish Tesla had followed suit since they really add too much of an UNROCK vibe to the cruise.

Hey Metalboy, are sure Stryper is out for the MOR cruise? Today they hinted Stryper would be announced on the 4th of July. I agree a few bands still need to be added to round it out. What do you think about Jackyl and Wasp?
July 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKEVON
Kevon! WASP would be huge and would be a decider for me.

Jackyl wouldn't necessarily do it for me but I know of at least one person that regularly comments on Al's posts here, and also occasionally contributes to this site, who would book the second Jackyl might be announced.

Thanks for bringing the 4th of July heads up for new MORC announcements, brother!

BTW, everybody, watch the end credits of the above video carefully! It might take multiple viewings to read them thoroughly but will be well worth the effort! Hillarious! Such clever boys, The Darkness!

That cocert last night was totally free!....Skid Row were actually good,...they slaughtered I Remember You but the rest of the set was really good, and Tesla was...well Tesla....they rocked out also...like I said, it was a free show so pretty hard to complain...oh..and then John Corabi played a set at a theatre after that show about midnight, which was free also,...fun night,...rough morning!

I like this! I know I will be picking it up on release day. I hate to admit it but I wasn't a big fan of The Darkness. I see I better get my head on right and check them out again.
