Guns n' Roses Announce Las Vegas Residency

It’s the new trend among 80s bands: the Las Vegas residency! Guns n’ Roses will launch their residency at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino this fall.

Guns n’ Roses will do 12 shows, starting on October 31. Tickets go on sale Friday. The name of the residency is apparently Appetite for Democracy.

I have to admit I’m a little surprised Guns n’ Roses are following Motley Crue’s footsteps with a residency. I figured it would be someone like KISS or even Poison to do it first, buy hey, money is money and Axl Rose has to eat too, baby. The question is, will The Joint let Axl have his way and go on in the middle of the night? Probably. There’s a casino just outside The Joint and I’d imagine Hard Rock management would love for concert goers to spend money on slots while waiting for Axl.

So lets do a roll call, here. Who plans on attending this residency? With tickets at just $45 bucks, it’s not an expensive night… unless you have to travel to Vegas. Then all bets are off. (Get it?!)

Vegas clearly is becoming rock's "Branson." Expect this trend to continue with longer (and perhaps permanent) residencies for more and more acts.

Elvis, Cheap Trick, Crüe and now "G'n'R".

It duzn't get any more Rock and Roll than that! (Am I missing anyone?) of course, this isn't the REAL G'n'R, but still, it'll look good on the marquis and ya gotta admit, they do play their as*s off regardless of what we may think of the whole Axl/Slash thing.

Gotta wonder what the rider on the contract stipulates about showing up on time, though. This might be a situation where Axl might want to make sure he shows up on time or he could find himself in the desert where no one can hear him scream like the little old lady he's always sounded like.

Though it's cool he's doin' this, he's still a first class a*shole, topping off all his B.S. with letting the fans down at The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

AND "G'n'R" doesn't stack up to any of their predecessors who have done one of these Vegas stints before.

Not by a mile.

Great Post Metalboy!

Rider, Schmider... Axl will learn (or maybe he won't?) That his primadonna antics won't fly in a town with a heavy stage technician's union. The fines will be absolutely crushing if he's not on & more importantly OFFstage at a certain time.

There's thousands of holes in that desert, Mess with the wrong "union rep" & Ax-hole will be buried in one of them.

I can see it now "GnR - The newest impersonator show on the Strip".

Couldn't be less interested in this.

Vegas is easy money for these bands as WE get older and have a little more disposable income. There is only so many bands that could pull this off. And our only complaint is that Axl is an asshole ? We already knew that !!! Late for shows ? We already knew that also.

But to just plain rock out and take a break from all the slot machine noise on my 3 night vay kay to Sin City ?? Sign me up !

Hey if Van Halen can get back together.... I have hope.

Ipod to drive to work song of the morning ~ Rockin' Is Ma Business by The Four Horsemen (glam enough for ya ?)

I can be in vegas in less than five hours by car, but there is no way in holy hell I would go to this. On a more positive note, "Nobody Said It was easy" by the four Horsemen is, quite simply, one of the best rock and roll albums ever made. "Rockin' is ma business, business is good...Well, if it's so good then why am I still f--kin' broke?" One of the greatest lyrics ever!

Didn't go when they played less than 40 miles from my house on their last tour.Certainly won't travel to Vegas to see Sybil and his 13 personalities......

This does nothing for. I saw slash a couple months ago and it was unbelievable. That is enough for me. Axel can pound sand.

Haha!!!, Bri. From the way Ace makes it sound, Axl could very well wind up poundin' sand but from underneath it! Love that Ace points out goin' off stage on time is just as important, maybe even more so, than goin' on stage on time!

And, GNR, you make good points, as always, and just gotta say, The Four Horsemen's "Nobody Said It Was Easy", as Bob emphasizes, is easily one of The Best Rock & Roll Albums Ever and I will add, one of my Top 50 Favorite Hair Metal Albums of All Time! Beyond Glam Metal. Beyond Metal. This is a Rock & Roll album of the HIGHEST order!

AND "Rockin' Is Ma' Business" is easily one of my Top 50 Favorite Hair Metal Songs of All Time! I got it wedged right in between "Outlaw" by The Scream and "Balls To The Wall" by Accept on my "A" iTunes Playlist, "Heavy Roxx". This is what I call Mean A*s Rock n' F*ckin' Roll! Good one, GNR!

Too bad these guys didn't make a video to match the epic lyrics of the song. Instead, they made a throw away video that looks like it was shot in Venice Beach in an afternoon. There are a couple of things out here that have been finally been released, including a DVD and Live CD from '92.

Also, if you've got a spare 110 smackers, feast your eyes on the still sealed Promo CD of "Nobody Said It Was Easy" packaged in a Denim Blue Jeans Pocket (sans the jeans, of course) up for auction on Ebay right now. So frickin' cool!:

I like the idea, and I love the ticket price. However, I would never go jut because I do not want to be sitting there for 2-3 hours while Axl "warms up" backstage.

I would check out Axl if there was nothing else going on. Beats seeing some magician.

And Four Horseman rock, big time!

I think it's def the wave of the future. Like Ally, I was suprised to see this announcement (of Axl and co) but then in some way I wasn't. This makes sense for Axl to just stay in one city and perform, easy paycheck and not have to travel and deal with the road.

I hope its successful for them and for the Hard Rock Las Vegas!

This is actually a show I could get to . . . and it would beat seeing Lance Burton but not Penn & Teller (if they have finally updated their show).

It is a great town to catch a car crash of acts. Seen Tom Jones and David Lee Roth there. I'll leave it to you to guess which show I chose and which show I was expected to attend.

And the people watching is half the fun. Have beens and never weres mingle with almosts and gold stamped bona fides.

Like I said, I _could_ get to this show . . . interesting.

PS: Metalboy!, nice reference to The Scream. Quite a few great people involved in the making of _Let It Scream_. I wonder though: what do you think of Corabi's next move?

Metalboy! Very cool CD. How do you find this stuff?
August 16, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRita
HIM -- I wish Corabi would form a new band. I see he put out a solo unplugged CD that came out in February. Imagine if he got together with Tracii Guns. I know that sounds risky, but what if it worked?!

Rita! How do I find this stuff. Ooo, you are asking about a very dangerous game. I hesitate to tell you because it can easily consume all of your time AND money. It's called Ebay!

I guess we are back on track Metalboy! I agree completely about Corabi forming a new band. He is such a talented artist and all around nice guy when it comes to the fans.

Guns' LoG has the potential to rebuild a rope line where all the bridges once stood before he burned them. But Guns and Corabi is an odd enough pairing that it could work. That said, Corabi is better than the baggage that combo would have to drag with them. If I had my "what if" pick it would be Clarke, even though he is still involve in the newest iteration of Fastway.

Sidebar: the Motley Crue that recorded _Motley Crue_ was never going to work for a variety of reasons. But it is an incredible showcase of his talent and the things Crue is capable of when they are pushed a bit (Mars having to deal with another talent in a love/hate way pushed him further than it did Lee or Sixx).

Metalboy! 'Outlaw 'by The Scream!!! One of the BEST songs ever!!!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJimbo
HIM! Jimbo! Corabi should name his new band CORABI!
August 17, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
I'd go with Uncle Jack. A nice jab and a fitting moniker. If the world was fair, though, he would be able to front a namesake band and get the rewards he deserves. I can't say enough about Corabi.
