South Texas Rock Fest 2012 Lineup Announced

I wasn't even sure if the South Texas Rock Festival was going to happen this year, but apparently all system are go. The festival will feature Queensryche, Accept, Dokken, Michael Schenker and more.

The festival will take place October 13 in San Antonio, Texas at the Sunken Garden. Tickets go on sale August 10. A general admission ticket is only $39.50 and VIP will set you back $200. If you are planning on going to this, let me know. I think the lineup is solid for a good afternoon/evening of hard rock.

Accept and MSG! Guitar Wars in Texas!

HUGE!

Oh, I disagree. This looks wretched. Queensryche w/o original voice. Dokken w/o original voice (if you have heard Don in the last decade you know what I am talking about!) Definitely not worth 40 bucks. Truthfully, this might be a "pass" if free.

CK! Notice I didn't mention Queensryche or Dokken. What is HUGE is Accept and MSG in a Guitar Battle Royale as both Hoffman and Schenker are total Monsters of the Frets!

Heck, actually, I would probably be willing to cringe through Don Dokken's shot vocals to hear his guitarist, too, tho. We listened to him on XM or Sirius -- whichever one was broadcasting live from M3 -- on our way up to M3. Say whatever you want about scabbin' -- that dude's a frickin' Monster shredder! In fact, I heard he was a pupil or protege of Lynch or sumthin'.

They really need ZZ Top, Dangerous Toys and Texas Hippie Coalition for this, too!

As MB stated,I'd go the $40 (and probably a lot more) just for Hoffman and Schenker alone. That's some over the top histrionics via a fretboard right there. And MB,Dokkens guitarist is Jon Levin (get this. The guy is a lawyer!! Did entertainment law out on the Left Coast) And agreed that anybody who can mimic Lynch, note for note, plus individually smoke on his own by stepping out of those huge shoes, is a whale in their own right

Wow, Gary! I had no idea about Jon Levin. Now there's a case where someone did successfully quit their day job. I wonder I he's Don's lawyer, too? At least the band duzn't have to worry about contracts while he's around.

I wonder if there's anything Dokken could do to get his voice back? It's so sad the way it's so shot now. A couple of weeks ago, I was watchin' some great video on YouTube of 'em back in the heyday and I just could not believe how great his voice used to be live. What a tragedy.

Sad fact is that Don hashed his voice over the years with smoking (amongst other vices that hurt the voice). It isn't likely to come back after the constant torture.

That said, and I am likely in the minority here, I still think he is a good showman. And, when he tries, he pulls off a decent vocal or two with the songs slowed down (as they have been for the past five or so years).

And there is no doubt that Levin is incredible to watch. At Rock n' America several years ago, he bested Lynch's performance on the second stage with the diva Logan.

Queensryche w/o original voice.

What original voice? Geoff Tate let that go to pot years ago. Todd La Torre, the guy who replaced him, sounds AWESOME. I'd go just for Queensryche.

I'd go just to see Schenker !!!
