Best of 2013?
It's hard to believe but it's already November and 2013 is winding down fast. Before you know it, the holidays will be here and we'll be looking toward 2014.
As part of my gig with Dayton City Paper, I've been tasked with doing a "best of Glam and Metal 2013" list for the end of year issue. Since such lists always take some thought, I figured I better get started now. This is where you come in: I'd like your suggestions. Provide me your opinions on the best of the past year and I'll consider adding to the list. If the band is super obscure, give me a couple tidbits of info. Remember - writing for a newspaper is a different audience than this blog, so I'm going to have to be either a little more general or super descriptive in my best of choices!
I'll spoil the suspense and tell you that Black Veil Brides is definitely making the cut. Now, give me your choices!

And I quote: "Then there's LESSER lights with equally amazing albums, Michael Monroe..."
Frickin' Michael Monroe is BETTER than all you mention with the exception of Sabbath and Purple. When the HELL are you ever going to get off your high horse?
Why can't you self-edit a little and just recommend his new album without a degrading caveat? Monroe is the REAL Deal.
It's also laughable that Monroe's the only one you mention who's GLAM, once again begging the question, "Why do you even come on this site?"
My list, which contains mostly stuff you've never heard of because you wouldn't know ROCK if it hit you in the face, is forthcoming.
STAY TUNED, Folks!!!...

Also... The new Metal Church release is very good. Just got it this week and have only spun it 3 or 4 times. It would most likely make my list by the end of 2014.
Rock-it, I am looking forward to the new Metal Church, I have that coming, I always loved those guys. And yes, the Tate-less QR album was also great. Two more reasons that this has not been anything like a 'slow year', in my book.
She's talking about THE QUALITY OF THE MUSIC, not "popularity", though she still denigrates, unintentionally, when she uses the term "obscure".
And Michael Monroe is just as known as some of the crap you offer up.
What is on my list is REAL. Sabbath gets in on it's MUSICAL merits. The fact they practically invented the genre Heavy Metal has nothing to do with it.
When are you people going to get it through your fat heads!!!
It's about The Best MUSIC!
