Randy Rhoads is best known for his tour of duty with Ozzy Osbourne and his band, then known as The Blizzard of Ozz. Once Rhoads had officially joined, the band headed into the studio to record their debut album, titled Blizzard of Ozz. Propelled by Rhoads' neo-classical guitar work, the album was an instant hit with rock fans, particularly in the USA. They released two singles from the album: "Mr Crowley" and the hit "Crazy Train".  Rhoads left us March 19th, 1982 in a tragic plane crash leaving us a huge void in music. His legacy of brilliant music will live forever in the hearts of the people – He was a true hero and legend.

Please join us December 6th through December 7th and pay respects to Randy Rhoads and his family for his birthday at the:

I don't know why the work he did w/Quiet Riot doesn't get much love.

Quiet Riot I & II are glam metal classics in my book.
I feel the same way about the "Randy Rhoads Years" compilation that came out back in 1993. Half the CD is rare unreleased stuff. I still to this day play the hell out of those CD's.

I also have a Quiet Riot concert on DVD from 1979 at the Starwood & it's amazing, I watch it all the time. It blows my mind that they could only get the first two albums's released in Japan.

Kelle Rhoads is one of my best friends, as was Randy when he was alive. Every year, for the last few years, Randy's sister Kathy, has had this "birthday party" for Randy, to celebrate his life. It's always a good time, yet sad, since the guest of honor is no longer with us. One of the uniquely special things she does for this, is create a special shadowbox display of some of Randy's most personal items, like his Quiet Riot era stage outfits, his miniature trains, & other things that really meant something to Randy. Anyone that is even remotely in the area should attend, as the intimate musical performances from Randy's family & friends are something very special. I'll be there.

Also, during the day, on Randy's birthday Dec 6th, there is usually quite a gathering at Randy's gravesite at Mountain View Cemetery - San Bernadino, CA

I love everybody keeping his memory alive. Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman are flawless. His Quiet Riot material is very underrated as well. A legend to say the least!

One of THE Greatest. All of his work is beyond incredible and the mark he made on that classic 80's Hair Metal sound is eternal.

I also love the fact that it was Dana Strum, of Vinnie Vincent Invasion and Slaughter fame, who introduced Randy Rhoads to Ozzy. A criminally underestimated producer, it's amazing how Strum's introduction altered the course of Rock & Roll History for all eternity.

p.s. I was reading about Rhoads earlier and discovered Brent Woods from WILDSIDE was one of Randy's students. Check out Wildside's flawless 1992 debut, "Under The Influence", where you can hear Rhoads' influence on Woods. It's also interesting to note that album was the first outside project to be recorded at Eddie Van Halen's 5150 studio. And it's producer was none other than Andy Johns. Do you know Brent Woods, Ace?

I do. Brent's actually producing Kelle's upcoming record.
As for Dana's involvement, Do you know who suggested Rhoads to Dana? Runaways bassist Jacquie Fox. For a time Dana thought he was gonna be in Blizzard. It was Sharon's doing that he got shafted.

P.S. For all the montion of Randy's sister Kathy, I forgot to post a picture of her earlier. Since they were so close in stature, I expect if Randy was still alive, he'd still look as similar to her as he always did.

Ace! Gary! I was thinkin' the same thing! No doubt, Rhoads took Eddie's style of page and advanced it to a whole other level while at the same time, creating his own!

And that info about you, Kelle, Woods, Fox and Strum all being part of Randy Rhoads' life is amazing, Ace!

Wildside and the Under The Influence album is criminally underrated. I could probably guess Randy was an inspiration, but I would've never guessed he was his teacher. Well you learn something new every day....
