Check Out This Great 'Round and Round' Cover!

People on Vacation, the new band featuring Bowling For Soup's Jaret Reddick and Smile Smile's Ryan Hamilton just released an awesome cover of the RATT classic "Round and Round." Seriously, you have to watch this. The guys took a classic and made it modern and it's not hokey at all. I love it.

This may be one of the greatest off the radar Rock and Roll artifacts of the Century. Proof solid that "Round And Round" is one of THE Hair Metal albums.

Not really sure this goes that far beyond Ryan Adams' acoustic cover of the same, save for being a bit more up-tempo.

And while I agree the album is a classic of the era, these two covers just prove that "Round and Round" is a song that transcends the genre if people actually listen to it (I could mention other songs and artists as well). Not sure we'd be slapping our thighs over slow and soft versions of "Wanted Man" or "Lack of Communication."

But I get your point Metalboy!

Kind of neat but would I listen to this version more than once? I would say no. But kudos to these guys for knowing a great song when they hear it.

There was a compilation double disc released in the 1990s of a bunch of Texas bands covering hair metal classics. "Round and Round" was done by a group called UFOFU. I can't find it on YouTube, but that is probably one of my favorite cover songs ever. I recently bought the album on eBay just for the one song, but there are several other good covers on it as well.

Geez!

Guys, first let me apologize.

I think I was a little over served when I made my comments last night.

What I meant to say is...

This is proof that "Round And Round" is THE Greatest Hair Metal Anthem of All Time!

I might not necessarily like this cover very much but it is amusing. And it does reveal how amazing "Round And Round"'s song structure is.

What's more, I bet that guy on the left could really nail it Hair Metal Style at Rock and Roll Karaoke Night! You can tell by his voice he could really sing this song much louder and in a higher key!

HIM and Rita said it best. And thanks for the props, Roy.

And thanks for the tip, JT!

Smknotsmf!

There you are, laddie!

RATT's original truly is "THE Greatest GLAM Metal Song of All Time", as DJ asserts.

And though I don't personally particularly like Bowling For Soup, I am mildly amused by their semi-humorous take on this now classic song. It actually makes you appreciate the lyrics and song structure of the song, no matter who covers it.

This is God Awful!

Finally, At long last, the vocal line of this song has a melody line! The harmonies are beautiful and the impossible has been acheived! A way to harmonize what was once just a frog croak.
