Kingdom Come Has A New Video
![Date Date](/universal/images/transparent.png)
Kingdom Come has a new album called Outlier. The band just released a video for the single "God Does Not Sing Our Song." Outlier will be released in America in May 7.
To me, this doesn't sound like Kingdom Come from back in the day. What do you think?

No Danny Stag on guitar = no Kingdom Come.
So, now, it's really more a case of "No Lenny Wolf = No Kingdom Come", and they still got him and you can still hear that signature Robert Plantesque voice, albeit, barely...
And that brings up the real issue where I think Al might be having an issue, as I'm certainly am -- The overly special effected vocals of Wolf. Maybe somebody here might explain how they were processed as it sounds pretty typical of how a lot of "Rock" vocals get treated these days -- Kind of a "White Boy Auto Tune on Acid" vibe, if you will.
All that said, I like it AND I like the video! Lenny's nerd shoes, on the other hand, are a bit of a buzz kill. Where the hell's the wardrobe department when ya need 'em?!
And MB."White Boy Auto Tune on Acid" = Classic!!!!!
I like the song. It hammers pretty well. I too could do w/o the "White Boy" effect used on Lenny's voice however
Danny moved back to Pittsburgh. Funny enough, he & I worked the same place just before he joined Kingdom Come. Heck of a guitarist.
Let's face it... There's just no denying it. Lenny voice is pure GOLD! It IS Kingdom Come. That's why it duzn't need any effects on it and, no matter what, we will ALWAYS love KC!
Let's hope he gets it right on subsequent tunes and albums! I really could listen to this guy all day long.
His voice is THAT good!
Yeah, I left out the fact that, though Kingdom Come has been through a lot of musicians over the years, the classic line-up, the one I saw at Hammerjack's in Baltimore right off their 1st album's debut and with Warrant as the opener, had Danny Stag as the lead guitarist.
Without question, Stag's legend remains in my mind, as he is clearly one of THE Greatest Hair Metal Guitarists!
Ace, you said you worked with him. Where was that and what exactly did you guys do there?!
Please advise...
p.s. Would you mind clickin' back to Al's post on the (relatively) new band, Beware of Darkness? Would like to know if you've seen them and whatya think of their vid here AND, of course, their tunes. Maybe you know them? Would love to hear so, that is, if you have met them, heard 'em or heard of 'em!
As for "Beware Of The Darkness" , I haven't seen them live.
They remind me of something, I just can't thnk of the band at the moment.
Wow, man, you two were workin' at "Limelight Liquors" together? That is the stuff of Hollywood Legend. I do not jest. I picture myself living out there back in the day, pulling into the parking lot (did they have a parking lot?) in my slightly beat-up burgundy metal flake '73 "Boat Tail" Riviera with chrome wire-wheels and radio blasting KNAC, going into your store, buyin' whatever poison my lady was drinkin' that night while shooting the sh*t with you two characters working side-by-side behind the counter, only to then wind up seeing you guys in Actress and Kingdom Come, respectively, sometime later on The Strip.
What a mind blower that would have been!
As I've mentioned here before, when I partied with The Cult in '87 by the pool on the roof of Le Parc Hotel, those guys could not shut up about how great Kingdom Come was -- How they were like Zeppelin, their singer was "better than Plant", their guitarist sounded "just like Page", the band was "better than Guns n' Roses", that I "gotta get their new album" and go with 'em to see 'em the following night. Of course, what I didn't realize at the time was The Cult were, at that point, total Zeppelin freaks in the midst of recording "Sonic Temple". Nevertheless, The Cult's unanimous "thumbs up", if you will, is testament to Kingdom Come's greatness, and, though Lenny is "the voice" of Kingdom Come, so to is Danny "the guitar".
Believe it or not, I couldn't make it the show as I HAD to go to a client dinner in Santa Monica that night. Duty Calls. The next day, I went up to Tower on Sunset and they we're sold out of the album on cassette which is how you rolled when travellin' back then.
Obviously, everyone ran up there before I did following that show. Probably record company A&R people upon hearing the buzz of how great they were, thinkin' they gotta go find the next Zeppelin, too!
That's how it was back then. Hair Metal Ruled as it will once again as we rise up to Bring Back Glam!
P.S. Another "Woulda-Coulda-Shoulda" Moment: Danny really possesses such a large part of the Kingdom Come sound. There he is in Pittsburgh when he could be tellin' Wolf to get a pair of boots and blowin' everybody away a la KC's "Do You Like It" video. Imagine how HUGE they would be on The Monsters of Rock Cruise or at M3. If Wolf only knew how critical it is to get Danny back. It usually always comes down to money, right? In this case, I think the extra bucks Wolf would have to pay Danny would make it all worth it, as I really believe these guys could tour heavily in The States, let alone Europe, what with the new resurgence of our music and all. Instead ya got visions of Lenny tying his UNROCK shoes between takes of this weird video. As Ace so perceptively notices, "No Danny Stag on Guitar = No Kingdom Come.
Also, I actually did manage to see Kingdom Come not long after the first album came out. It was at Hammerjack's in Baltimore and I'm pretty sure Warrant opened for 'em.
I remember distinctly, Danny absolutely stunning the audience with his total guitar-prowess. Awesome!
