Falling, Asking, A Day, and Avenged!
Truth be told, HIM isn't really into HIM (that third person stuff gets old real quick).
Wish these festivals were closer to me or I to them.
And I most surely want to see Airbourne!
I am so jealous, Brian L!
Poseurs Making Fun of Poseurs = Not Funny, especially if it's sorta been done already by Spinal Tap and Kids in the Hall. Panther just leave nothing between the lines with the lyrics. The song titles are funny. Just not their lyrics.
I will say this, however...
Their music is excellent. I ran into the bass player (I think)... Crimey, this guy's like 6'8" (!) and I told him all they need to do is write more clever lyrics, more "between the lines" words a la Cheap Trick's classic stuff off "In Color" (i.e. "Southern Girls") or "Heaven Tonight" (i.e. "High Roller"). I told him if they did that, it would be their biggest album. And you know what? The guy agreed.
Now, look, I get the fact that where they make their money as a crude comedy act playing The Strip and Vegas -- The Lenny Bruce (who was crude but not that funny, either) of Throwback 80's Hair Metal, but they could take the Cheech & Chong approach if they don't want to cross over completely. C&C's approach with their mega successful album, "Big Bamboo", was to deliver half an album that's playable on the radio and half not.
That will get them more exposure AND they will still get the draw of LCD idiots who like their humor as base as possible and, in the case of Steel Panther, even more inane and stupid than that.
I will give them one song, though... Just on the title alone... "Tiger Woods".
Look, I realize
