Discuss: End of Great White 'Name' Dispute
Received this press release late yesterday. Quite frankly, I'm not surprised at the outcome... are you?
GREAT WHITE AND JACK RUSSELL REACH AGREEMENT OVER USE OF “GREAT WHITE” NAME HOLLYWOOD, CA (July 23, 2013) - Great White and co-founding member/original lead singer Jack Russell have announced that they have entered into an agreement settling their pending litigation over the “Great White” name.
In March, 2012, Russell sued his former band-mates Mark Kendall, Michael Lardie and Audie Desbrow over their continuing use of “Great White” after Russell had taken a leave of absence from the band for medical reasons. The band countersued, and the parties have been involved in contentious litigation for the last year. After three days of closed-door mediation before U.S. Magistrate Judge Carla Woehrle, the parties reached a comprehensive agreement. While many of the terms of the agreement will remain confidential, it can be revealed that, going forward, the current Great White band will continue to use the name "Great White"' and Russell will perform under the name "Jack Russell's Great White".
Jack Russell’s GREAT WHITE has hit the high seas to embark in a two month two moth voyage across the Nation until early Fall.
Multi-Platinum original singer of GREAT WHITE still brings it to the stage belting out all the original beloved songs that made the band take a place in rock history. Russell will be performing all their greatest hits from "Save All Your Love," "One Bitten Twice Shy," "Rock Me" and more!

Great White should remain Great White, & whatever booted ex-lead singer Jack Russell does, should have an entirely different name.
I offered him 2: a great one, "Jack Russell's Terrier" & the not so great "Jack Russell's Colostomy Bag".
Better yet, He should just hang it up & continue to attempt to live a normal life.
Thing is, his name is meaningless to the General Public without the "Great White" moniker following it. Oh, well. Hey, Kendall, can't ya get somebody else besides that XYZ dude singin'? He's SO generic!
BTW, where I found Great White boring was The Monsters of Rock Cruise this past March. Y'know, I just realized the dispute most likely came about over promoters probably "inadvertantly" billing his version as just Great White and now the outcome of this mediation requires Russell to be more vigilant on how he's billed.
Shame it had to come to all of this as they'd be so much better together. Russell probably realizes he'd make more solo yet people still want to see Kendall's version for his incredible guitar work.
"Jack Russell's Dante Fox".
Much less desperate.
The only really important question is, Is Jack allowed to use the stylized Great White logo, or just the words "Great White"?
If it's just the words, then it's a total win for Kendall & Co.
