Joan Jett Performs New Song 'Any Weather'

Joan Jett premiered her new single “Any Weather” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this past Thursday and you can now watch the performance and listen to the song.

I have to admit I’m not really blown away by “Any Weather” in any way, but I am just so happy that Joan Jett finally is back so I don’t even care. After a few listens, the song is also starting to grow on me. Especially because it’s so classic Joan Jett. If you heard it on the radio and didn’t know who it was, it wouldn’t be too hard to take a guess. This makes me really excited about her upcoming album. And as Ally said, let’s hope the album means she’ll be going on tour again soon.

What do you guys think?

uplifting, catchy, feel-good message. Not one of her rockin' bests, but I like it a lot. Reminds me of Tom Keifer's new song, "Through Thick and Thin" off of "The Way Life Goes." The arrangement and melody is different, but the lyrics combined with the overall message are quite similar. Another stellar Joan Jett output.

A pretty good song though not my favourite. Glad she is back. She looks great.

Oh gawd that was awful...coming from someone who was in the Joan Jett fan club, paid dues, got news letters, etc...the song is flat and boring, the lyrics are nothing short of a nursery rhyme, and there is NO energy to it whatsoever. An absolute cash grab meant to trade on her name and legacy...a total travesty.

My assumption was she played a song from the CD that would appeal to the masses who was the audience that night and not necessarily the best one from it. If this is the best song on the CD, I would be disappointed. I am guessing and hoping it's not.

And a TOTALLY awesome performance, too! Glad to see she's back and the same goes for you, too, Kim! Thanks for the excellent post!

Joanie is capable of so much more. There's something funky going on in the Blackheart Records camp. Around the time of the Runaways movie, Joan & her manager, Kenny Laguna signed Joan's singer from the Runaways, Cherie Currie to Blackheart Records. Cherie went in, made a record w/ Matt Sorum on drums, and it sat...shelved.... WHY?

Cherie finally has had enough & gotten her self out of the contract & is now out on tour. Her record will never see the light of day* (wayyyy inside joke).

Joan's a really good songwriter...and capable of so much more than this song.

This is a great, catchy song. Love her voice on it. Based on what I've heard off her new album, this is probably the most "commercial" song, which is why they're releasing it first. It could be a hit, but sadly radio refuses to play anyone over the age of 30.

not only does "any weather" "own" you, but it laughs in your face...to boot.

Ace, THAT absolutely SUXX that Blackheart won't release Cherie's record she made with Matt Sorum! I remember she and Sorum appearing on "That Metal Show" to talk about it. To hear now it got shelved is absolutely tragic. C'mon, Jett, do what's right! I wish Cherie Currie would come on "The Monsters of Rock Cruise". That would be SO large! And of course, you should join us on it as well. You would be among so many of your friends, Ace!

MB, I agree w/ you, it SUCKS & thru deception, Cherie has wasted 3 years time. Currently Cherie has taken it upon her self to go out & play. Catch her if you can.

Here's American Nights from her Chicago gig a week or so ago...

Joan didn't "write this song" (Any Weather)... Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters wrote it for her. Don't know why this song was chosen as the first single released from the album. I've heard several other songs from Unvarnished (she's been "testing" them the past couple years in her live shows) that would have been a much better choice.

As for the situation with Cherie, so much I want to say...but it could quickly spiral into ugliness so I will keep my mouth (and fingers) quiet for now. I am quite disgusted with Joan and Blackheart over the whole ordeal...It's just wrong.
