Sammy Hagar Releases New Video!

I'm a big Sammy Hagar fan. I think he has an amazing rock voice and his live shows are always a big party. I'm pretty stoked that a new album is on deck. To promote that new album Sammy Hagar & Friends, Sammy just released the video for the single "Knockdown Dragout"

You'll notice the track features Kid Rock. I'm definitely getting this new album. Sammy Hagar & Friends is due out September 24.

Better than anything Chicken Scratch or Kid Unrock ever did so I give 'em an A for Effort. Great to hear Satriani be able to rock out to a REAL Rock & Roll song for a change instead of the "Modern Rock" tripe he's been a victim of as one of Hagar's "Foot" soldiers, aside from their by-the-numbers cover of "Highway Star", which just pales by comparison to Buckcherry's.

And I like the video. Very reminiscent of the late 80's style of the oeuvre. Also, it's interesting to note the whole thing is calculatedly aimed to the LCD mentality that has always been Hagar's fan base.

Not a bad song. Not great, but not bad either. Generally, I am not a fan of Kid Rock, but he sounds decent in this track. Metalboy! my friend, please forgive my ignorance, but what is an LCD mentality?

Love Sammy, but this is pretty mediocre. Satch slays as usual. I can see this being played on many NFL pre game shows and at stadiums

Very perceptive, Jeff.

And, Bob, Jeff's observation confirms what is meant by LCD: Lowest Common Denominator.

Ahah, that makes sense. But then again, doesn't most good ole rock 'n' roll aim for the LCD crowd? Not saying this is a bad thing, just pointing out that many of the bands we talk about on this site aren't necessarily the second coming of Socrates, which isn't a bad thing.

ok...I must pose a question for MB: what, if any, is the difference between playing for/to the LCD or to the GCF? either way, it's still the same. right? as long as, of course, we're (both) playing to (both of) those audiences for the 'right' reasons- the good of the whole; either lifting one up or cutting someone off at the knees. what difference does it make.

meanwhile, I often interpret your statement to say, "I'm right. I sing to the GCF. Jump on my bandwagon and you'll win, too."

I know my audience. I know what I'm singing and I think that when it all comes down (hopefully) they understand my songs too...just like you're hoping that you audience gets it, too.

Now do me one favor...do not begin you response with...HA HA HA HA HA HA!
