Death Metal Goes Glam

One man (Peter Hasselbrack) death metal band Bloodsoaked just released two glam covers. One is of RATT's "You're In Love" and the other is of Cinderella's "Shake Me." Both are pretty good, I have to say. The covers are from the album Religious Apocalypse.

I liked the Ratt cover until the guy opened his mouth. Cookie Monster anyone?

One of the many many genres of music I like is extreme metal. IMHO, Here's where this guy went wrong...If you're going to do death metal covers of popular tunes, don't just play a slightly-heavier version of the song and stick your Cookie Monster vocals over it. For an example of how death metal covers are done the right way, check out a band called Ten Masked Men. They've got the Cookie Monster vocals, but also back them with blistering death metal tempos. To clarify what I mean here, adding the Cookie Monster vocals turns off the glam crowd, and the glam instrumentation turns off the death metal crowd, so he basically placed himself squarely in the middle of No Man's land with these covers.

Hahaha!!! That's exactly what these sound like... Heavied up versions with The Cookie Monster on lead vocals!

The fact that Glam Metallers might dislike the vocals and Death Metallers might dislike the clean, albeit, heavier, guitars makes this all the b*llsier.

Personally, I find the two covers extremely hilarious! In fact, they may be the funniest two things I've heard ALL year, if not longer!

The drummer sounds good.

Good guitars, although the tuning used here makes the original "drop D" that Warren used in "You're In Love" sound normal by comparison. But,much as it goes with a shit ton of these songs in this particular genre,I just can't wrap myself around the "Satan on Quaaludes" vocals. Lol

You mean Cookie Monster possessed by Satanic Dogs on Quaaludes, Gary!

And to sublimely hilarious effect, as I mentioned before IMHO!

Especially considering it's a one man band!

Such vision!

Such singular focus and dedication to bringing these comedic masterpieces to the world!

These songs are pretty absurd to begin with, particularly "You're In Love", not really one of RATT's stronger lyrics, which weren't their strong suit, anyway, save for the perfect "Round And Round"

Oh, the Irony!

Oh, the utter Hilarity!
