John Corabi Recording Motley '94 Show Tonight For Future Release

John Corabi, who sang on Motley Crue's self-titled release way back in 1994, is currently on tour, recreating some of that magic. Tonight in Nashville, John and his band will perform all of MC94 from top to bottom and record the show for a future release. Not for nothing, the performance will be videotaped too - so we're looking at a CD/DVD release in our future.

I'm pretty excited about this because 1) everyone knows my obsession for the Motley 94 release and 2) I'm a big Corabi fan. To this day, I still say Motley Crue is the band's best album... right behind Shout At The Devil. I remember being so into MC94 when it came out - all my friends had moved on, but I was definitely digging it. The sound and music was different and for the time, it fit. Plus I never cared what anyone else ever thought of the music I liked - still don't to this day. I knew Motley getting back with Vince Neil was inevitable... but I always wonder how much more awesome music we missed out on with such a short Corabi-Crue union

We will be recording and capturing (video) for a future "Live" release at The Basement East on October 27th!! Gonna' be a fun night, so make sure you come out and see us!!

excellent post today, ally. I hear you about the MC '94 album. I have a similar story reminiscent of your post. Another album that came out at that time was Cinderella's "Still Climbing". While it's not my favorite Cinderella album, it touched on so many important aspects of my life in the years to come: Hard to find the words (thinking of the love and guidance my parents gave me), Through the rain (the sudden and unexpected death of my dad), blood from a stone (vj), Talk is cheap (some co-workers/supervisors), Freewheelin' (Everything I've done is over-rated So take a step back 'cause I don't need the flack- I couldn't get much higher), and of course, the title track- I'll be climbing for the rest of my life.

Corabi is indeed awesome, but he didn't sound good singing the Vince Neil material live, just like Paul Shortino didn't sound good in Quiet Riot singing the Kevin DuBrow material. MC and QR would not have made nearly as much money if their original singers didn't return and, as I've said before, music *is* a business.

Feelgood is my favorite album as a whole from Motley. But I still listen to this just as often. I always thought it was underrated and overlooked. I have always been made fun of for always listening to it, just because it dosent resemble classic Motley. But hey, good music is good music.

Definitely agree! I was at the Corabi/Crue show in Columbus Ohio at Germain Amphitheater when they were promoting the album. It is one of my favorites but I was glad Vince came back. Still if not, you have to wonder.... Thank for the article!

and with thee most respect, Him, I contend that you're wrong about the "jump the shark" meaning. I think it means that "jumping the shark" is that you are no longer being true to who and what you are. imho. and that re-do-overs are ok, too.

This is not the almighty Motley Crue.

Hands down the greatest glam metal news I've heard all year!
Only thing better would be for Motley Crue to release a CD/DVD of them w/Corabi back in 1994!

I saw Motley on that tour & it was an amazing concert (& the only tour I don't have a bootleg concert of Motley on DVD).
I loved "Hooligan's Holiday" instantly & loved the Motley Corabi album (every single track rocks) as soon as I listened to it that morning on March 15, 1994 after skipping school to buy the CD.

I saw some Corabi/Motley 94 stuff on youtube & it's pretty damn cool.
I'll definitely be buying this, the day it comes out.

Corabi's still got his chops but talk about someone with an overrated confabulated opinion of himself.

I've talked with Corabi on The Monsters of Rock Cruise quite a few times over the years after sometimes after one of his stellar performances, going so far as to suggest he form a new band simply called "CORABI" in chrome letters.

He was actually quite receptive to the idea but obviously lacks the cajones to follow through. Amusing at times, obnoxiously self absorbed at others, Corabi couldn't stop making me feel like I was carrying on a conversation with a werewolf with a Napoleon complex.

It was a great show Badland. I reviewed it earlier this summer on this very site.

I think there is room in Crue fan's hearts for both Neil and Corabi. And, like you Allyson, I rank his work with Crue pretty high up on the overall list. But now I am just repeating myself (again).

Werewolf with a Napoleon complex . . . that did make me laugh, Metalboy! Again, I guess I have been lucky not to catch him when he is ego-bound. And I think a solo album titled Corabi isn't a bad idea, though an album with (or helping) Mars is even better.

Just curious: what do people think of The Dead Daisies? I know they rotate through members quite a bit. But the stuff with him?

Still going on Ally's original post, in 1994, another stellar album was released and in my car's 6 CD changer (remember those), not only did I have Cinderella's 'Still Climbing" in the mix, but also David Lee Roth's 'You're filthy little mouth". This album, too, helped to shape some of my outlooks in life, in that, Roth explored various musical genres on this album instead of sticking to his tried and true formula. He ventured into country, jazz, reggae, blues, etc... while still utilizing his signature vocal swagger. There isn't necessarily one particular song that stands out to me, the way "Still Climbing" did (does), but how it inspired me, is it allowed me to look for the uniqueness and beauty that lies in each and every one of us.

But, talk about lyrics, "Tell me what you want and I'll take the scenic route!"

Oh, believe me, you caught Corabi ego bound, HIM... He just had it in check with his standard pseudo Jaggerisms on stage. It's the offstage stuff where he can get a little jerky sometimes. You never know who you're gonna get -- Jeckyl or Hyde!

and you wanna know what else took a long time, too. Sue K made me sign a 5 year, non-disclosure/no hire form...and then she fired me. I kept my agreement. can I now speak out without having it confabulated. tell me what you want with your filthy little mouth!

Land's Edge- David Lee Roth, You're Filthy 'Lil Mouth

Ah, don't touch that dial

Here's a word about my ex-girlfriend
Towards the end conflict off and on
And I told her one night, "Honey every time we fight
I'll write a verse to this song"

Well, things got bad and things got worse
Still I struggled on
So sit back and get all comfortable
'Cause this little tunes six fuckin' hours long

I meant to say above...she had me sign a 5 year, non-disclosure, no-hire form, (and, thinking that I was secure for 5 years) she then blindsided me by firing me...but I kept my agreement. which, BTW, I told Sue K..."If you want to get your contract back with OCYS, I can help you."

And, PA forensics...I still can.
