Rock on the Range 2016 Lineup Announced

Standouts on the lineup include headliner Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steel Panther, SIXX: A.M., Asking Alexandria and Megadeth. There are some other good bands scattered in too like We Came As Romans... but all in all I must say I think the headliners are weak. ROTR has had Disturbed, Rob Zombie, Shinedown and Five Finger Death Punch before. I was hoping for Iron Maiden but I guess the budget just wasn't there. Tickets are available now via pre-sale - field access weekend wristbands are $199 each and the price will go up incrementally until they are sold out.

What a horrific lineup.

I've gone to ROTR for the past couple of years (and already have my tix for this one) and the festival is extremely well put done - it's always an amazing time. That said, the top-end is definitely a bit weak this year with RHCP being the only real headliner of the bunch.

When the lineup was announced on Monday, the founder of the festival said that there are more big announcements coming in January. I'm wondering if there are some tours still being finalized (I'm looking at you, GNR) that weren't ready to be announced. Also, the conspiracy theorist in me notices that this is the first time that a ROTR poster only has one headliner in the top row... it's almost as if it's just waiting to be filled with a couple of other bands.

I just hope Sixx AM and The Struts and Lacey Strum are on the same day. They are the only acts that I really NEED see on this.

I was actually planning on going to Rock On The Range this year. I like quite a bit of bands on here, but it's not worth festival prices. Megadeth, Sixx Am, Lamb Of God, RHCP, Bullet For My Valentine, Rob Zombie, and Steel Panther are great. I was hoping for Sabbath or GNR as headliners, with more quality bands like Black Veil Brides, Papa Roach, or maybe even Mick Mars who's going solo next year.

Five Finger Death Punch would be fun to see too. Like I said, lots of talent, and with all due respect to the Chilli Peppers, they could've shot for better headliners and lots of cool older and newer bands to support. Where the hell is Faster Pussycat or Twisted Sister??? They would go great at a festival like this playing right after say Black Veil Brides or even a band like Buckcherry.

Five Finger Death Punch is cool (especially their kicka*s version of Bad Co's "Bad Company".) but it really is a sad day in hell when they wind up above Megadeth on the poster.

Of the bands already announced, here are the only ones worth seeing this year:

Rob Zombie
Five Finger Death Punch
Megadeth
Wolfmother
The Struts
Texas Hippie Coalition
Monster Truck

Hmm, Megadeth, Clutch, Ghost, The Sword and Pennywise: otherwise a bunch of blah (at best)
