Coldplay is the official halftime performer for Super Bowl 50 on February 7, 2016. I was thinking we'd got some big classic rock act... I guess not. What do you think?

Agreed, Kenny... Coldplay were so over even 5 years ago. Such an out of touch choice. When are they ever gonna rock it out again like they did with Aerosmith and ZZ Top?

Ozzy and Metallica would be so right for this! Or better yet, a one off G n' R reunion!

Again, I understand the NFL's choice in not wanting to back harder rocking bands for game performances, because the general public may not want to see Ozzy, Metallica, or Aerosmith (Even though they would be excellent choices) but they could have done a lot better than Coldplay. They are the most boring band on the planet, they would've been better off booking a band like Creed (hahaha). I still think some of the better recent ones was Bruno Mars (Even though I am not a fan) and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. But it is what the public wants.

Regardless of what I think of Coldplay's music, the reason why this choice makes no sense is because Coldplay's main audience and the NFL's main audience couldn't be more different from each other. But then again, as long as the money is rolling in, the NFL is happy no matter how stupid it looks in the process. To clue you in to my frame of reference, I live in San Diego where the NFL and our "hometown" team have been trying to shake down the public for a new stadium for almost 15 years.
