Sharing Vocals?
Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 12:01AM
So apparently everyone in Def Leppard is going to take a turn at lead vocals on their next album. I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I don't hate it. Still, will it sound like Def Leppard? We all know Joe Elliott doesn't sound like the Pyromania days any more, but still...

Hopefully they can all carry a tune.
Interestingly, Glam Rock devotee, Justin Hawkins, frontman of "The Darkness" considers Joe Elliott a mentor. So, it may not be Glam Metal (though, I would argue some of their stuff sure sounds like it) but they are certainly influenced by Glam Rock (which I don't really hear).
p.s. Personally, I think the idea of everyone sharing vocal duties could work very well as it will bring a much more varied sound to the album and might even yield some hits. It worked for The Beatles (another major influence that I CAN hear in Def Leppard's music).
I wonder if this approach has anything to do with a less than all-hands-on-deck approach to creating and studio time? I mean that: I have no idea how the process evolves on this or their other more recent outings.
Plan to see them this summer. Should be a good time.
Good history lesson, Metalboy! Methinks that Elliot occasionally protests too much to try and sell a bit more. But that's the game, ain't it?
