Blast From The Past: My Darkest Days

Heather came in to town Wednesday night to spend Thanksgiving with Eric and me. After our meal and a trip to the casino, it was time to head out shopping. Somewhere into hour seven of the shopping trip, Heather popped on her music mix and My Darkest Days came up. "Pornstar Dancing" to be exact. Remember when Chad Kroeger discovered them years ago? If not, I'll remind you that Matt Walst is the lead singer and now he fronts Three Days Grace. Anyway, I always loved "Pornstar Dancing" as well as "Move Your Body" so here you go: a Black Friday blast from the past.

Hmmm . . . I must be very, very old (which I am not; I am just old-ish). But this sounds like Buckcherry had sex in a Honey Bucket with Hanson. Or if Nickleback lost a bit of their street cred and decided to ask Dee Snider for advice. And I don't mean either as a compliment. When Fred Durst can look at a group and say "Nope (brah optional)" I think I can too.

Never listened to My Most Obvious Days before. And certainly haven't heard Three Blind Mice. Not sure I will venture much further into this realm. But I get it. Plug-and-play choruses, precisely timed guitar sounds and drum things. Cute dudes all in a row. Nice looking ladies as well. That faint smell of rebellion that makes power-walking grandmas move to the other side of the now-almost-closed shopping mall. Who doesn't pine for a soundtrack to go along with Orange Julius?!!?

Let me put it this way: if I put this on layaway at Kmart, I would probably never return to pick it up. But if it rocks your boat shorts, forget what I think. Rock on. Manscara is _not_ optional though. If you want to move your body, you best step legit!

Him nailed it. Anything Chad Kroeger is attached to , is going to be pre-fab, puzzle peice, bland corporate fake rock. Last year, Santa Claus ran out of lumps of coal & had to give the bad children Nickleback CD's instead.

Agreed, boyz... Nickelback s*cks, save for one song, "Animals".

But, other than that, the only other right thing Kroger ever did besides marrying Avril Lavigne (though they're rumored to be stranger) was get behind My Darkest Days, even if they are a now defunct one-hit-wonder.

At least that "hit" was "Pornstar Dancing", a song I like almost as much as "Animals". And though the video is pretty cheesy, the song is catchy and rocks, certainly a lot more than the crap Three Days Grace puts out. Also, while he may be able to come up with a memorable song title, Matt Walst sure could do better with his band names.

Hmmm, maybe they aren't one hit wonders. I'll listen all the way through both in your recommendation, Archie.

Why does "Porn Star Dancing" remind me of PopEvil's "Boss's Daughter" played at 1/2 speed?
