Guns n' Roses: Live Tonight
Friday, April 1, 2016 at 01:20PM
Confirmed. A reunited Guns n' Roses will play the Troubadour tonight. People were lining up for wristbands at an old school (read: Appetite era posters) Tower Records facade.

any live streaming...?????????
Regards from Buenos Aires
*And I'll leave one other comment... In the most douchiest of moves, The Gn'R boys didn't even have the decency to invite Vicky Hamilton, who not only managed them back in the day, but fed them, let them live in her Clark Street apartment around the corner, & was the one that brought them to the attention of Geffen Records & got them signed. Without her, they'd never have gotten out of the gutter. Inviting her would've been the proper thing to do.
One thing that isn't a "bad" move: The old school flyer, the $10 Cash Only policy and, gotta love this -- No f*ckin' cameras! People will actually have to watch it through their own eyes and not their cellphones! AND not send their pix out indiscriminately, cheapening the whole thing.... Instead, Gn'R will control the image, sending out just a few photos.
Hopefully, they will video the whole affair with multiple cameras and first rate audio to (1) See what it looks like and release some clips to the press if it comes out good and (2) Possibly eventually release it in it's entirety if it REALLY REALLY comes out REALLY REALLY good!
As Glam Metal Princess Kari remarked to me earlier, this is how you BRING BACK GLAM!!!
Nice vibe they are crafting, as others have mentioned. They are actually being quite smart in turning "control of the product" into a sorta' nostalgic feeling atmosphere. That takes planning, right down to the Tower-turned-museum thing and old school approach to tickets, etc. Which is, to be perfectly honest, what needs to happen at this point. Gone are the loose and wild days of yore. This is a business decision two years (according to some reports) in the making. Very shrewd.
Can't wait to read the reports on this.

Nah...they just stole a page out of the Van Halen playbook. Café Wha? anyone???
The biggest difference between those two events, though, is that the reaction in GnR's case seems more explosive. And the audience was less packed with suits as well. Which might explain the reaction as well. A more minor note is that this club, and the old Tower location, have some relevance to the origins of GnR. Cafe Wha? was owned by Manny Roth (until the late-60s); but that, to my knowledge, is where the relevance to VH stops.
For VH, Cafe Wha? was chosen primarily for the benefit of the Press (Rolling Stone, New York Times, major news outlets, etc.), the Warner Brothers New York Suits (which you astutely noted, HIM), it's steeped Rock & Roll History (Hendrix, Dylan, etc.) and the fact David Lee Roth has lived in Greenwich Village on and off for years. I would actually dare to speculate it was Roth who suggested it.
But the way Gn'R and Co. figured out this whole thing was beautiful. The place where they debuted, 10 bucks, no cameras. It was really for the fans, except for a few "A" listers, some friends, crew and handlers.
Even the way did the whole thing at Tower, where Slash and Axl once worked, was brilliant! It really was a labor of love -- for the fans, Sunset Strip, and Rock & Roll!
It all just showed a lot of class!
Now if they can just pull in Izzy, Sorum, Adler and Gilby in corresponding line ups on some of this tour, now that would be REAL class!
