Mötley Crüe: 'The End' Coming To Pay-Per-View

Well, chalk this one up to another Nikki Sixx cash grab. The End movie is now coming to pay-per-view. I guess this is sort of throwback, because you'd think Motley Crue could make more money by offering the movie as on-demand paid content through cable subscribers or on Netflix or something. Pay-per-view in the true sense reminds me of the 1990s... or UFC or something. Anyway, here's the announcement, straight from my inbox.

(LOS ANGELES, CA - July 13, 2016) – Beginning July 16, music fans can experience the final performance from iconic rock band Mötley Crüe during a month-long Pay-Per-View and Video On-Demand run of “Mötley Crüe: The End.” The once-in-a-lifetime event – held at the sold-out Staples Center in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve 2015 – will be available through leading cable, fiber and satellite television providers in the U.S. and Canada.

Also, beginning July 16, fans around the world will be able to catch all the action from Mötley Crüe’s final show via a digital PPV stream of “Mötley Crüe: The End” at http://motley.com/. In addition to the live show fans will also be treated to behind-the-scenes footage of the band’s final performance night.  Relive the legendary rock icons final show online beginning July 16th at http://motley.com/

Completing their 35-year touring career as a band, this epic concert viewing experience gives Mötley Crüe’s fans a chance to relive mega-hits such as “Kickstart My Heart,” “Girls Girls Girls,” “Home Sweet Home” and “Dr. Feelgood.”

Check local listings for “Mötley Crüe: The End” (Rated TV-14; $19.95 SRP; 112 minutes), available from July 16 to August 15 on PPV and VOD in SD or HD.

Ah, yes. The edgy TV-14! And "once-in-a-lifetime" no less. Wait . . . there's one more drop of water from this stone!

The good is that they haven't seemed, from the teasers they have released, to have sweetened the sound beyond what was _actually_ there (including the obvious backing tracks that already helped to sweeten it live). The bad is . . . well, actually, same thing.

Can't wait to hear classics like "Ick Art My Ert" or "Shout eyaat ee Evil" from the privacy (that's pronounced "priv-i-see") of my Barcalounger.

At least they could have called it Pay-Per-Vüe. For something called "The End," this is sure taking awhile. Not KISS or Scorpion or Ozzy long. But you get my point.

. . . let me correct myself: ". . . sweetened the sound _too much_." Most live albums are part illusion, some very good (KISS ALIVE and Frampton CA) and some so-so (AC/DC IYWB in some cringe-worthy spots). So I am not expecting raw recordings from the sound boards. So that is me giving them credit to the extent that it is due.

As I am seeing on other sites, some are saying that they did some creative splicing of images from different concerts. Which is just the visual equivalent of the same thing noted above. No matter for me, esp. if it makes for a more fluid overall experience for those who think this is worth PPV.

I don't hate the Crue. I just want it to end. And maybe others can chime in about things they notice in the teasers that speak to the "is it live or is it . . ." issue.

Just like Nikki Sixx, what a pain in the a*s!

In line with Allyson, wouldn't it just be easier and wouldn't they make more money if this thing just went direct to Netflix?

But something tells me that or similar is where it will go next after this 1 month Pay only run.

HIM!... "Ick Art My Ert" and "Shout eyaat ee Evil" are in reference to Neil's phonetic annunciations of such choruses when he is singing live. If so, "Hahaha!!!", as it's true, he halfas*es his lyrics live almost as much as Joey Ramone would sound singing underwater in the Forest Hills Public Pool!

Haha, I love it! The haters are all soooo mad that the Crue are still relevant, even though they've retired. Meanwhile Steven Tyler just said he doesnt give a damn about his band, which has been ever so obvious, for the last 30 or so yrs. Aerosmith is an even bigger joke. Now what?!

Anyone who shells out to watch this as a PPV is a moron. Just wait 90 days and you will find in the walmart bargin bin for $5.00

It is ridiculous that Tyler would throw away the Aerosmith name the way he's done. I guess a guy who is worth hundreds of millions yet has no real self worth, has blob real perspective of his legacy. If only his drive for true excellence could be as big as his ego.

As far a Sixx and Crüe go, I'm curious to see the movie but I would have preferred to watch it in the movie theater. Shot right, compared to how it's been described in Allyson's post and the Comments here, it would be much more captivating.

Imagine their last show in IMAX where you could almost have filmed it locked off with minimal close-ups, to create the illusion of the band members appearing life size right on the stage! Nothing could be better short of the real thing or halograms. Wait, I may have just given $immons the impetus for his final bid at immortality!

Has "no" real respect, not "blob" real respect, though he may lack that, too, dangin' keyboard!

Why the hell did they go to Pay Per View??? The last time I ever used it was to watch a UFC event like ten years ago. I don't think anyone uses that format anymore. They could've done something on Netflix or even went the YouTube stream route like Metallica does, it probably makes more money and it reaches a much wider audience. I'll just wait for the DVD.

Dj, in a nod to your most recent use of PPV, it was because they have a singer who looks like Tank Abbott! I kid, of course. Body-shaming is unbecoming and I wouldn't want anyone to throw stones at me . . . though they might bounce off!

Bkallyday, relevant? To whom? Sure, to us (we are locked in an embrace that you can't deny away). But to who else on this planet? Neil gains more traction on TMZ than the band does on the radar of music generally. We are Neil's FitBit . . . walking the band through the motions that they oh-so-wonderfully spoon feed to us. But they didn't end on top. They ended in a crag in the hill that _they_ built. It is laughable. This PPV is a mad-capped launch into the lunar-sphere. Only the most dedicated will take the bait . . . the rest will do as Jeff suggests.

Google the "Crue total record sales" there, him. You may be just surprised at what you find out. I understand that most conservatives don't like the Crue but you're gonna be very unhappy when you see the success they've had.

You are sweet, Bkallllllllllllllllllllllday. Sweet and misguided.

I never said they weren't relevant at one point. In fact, my post was predicated on that fact. What I suggested is that they _are not_ now,. generally.

So I am happy you tried something. But you didn't really end up making that point work. I give you credit, though. You chose to respond.Thanks.
