The band performed the classic album in its entirety for the DVD release. I was at the show this was taped at, & was bored to tears waiting for them to get OFF the stage. Great White was OK, Skid Row was OK, Extreme were BORING, & Twisted Sister were pretty good. even without all the trappings that once made them "Twisted F*#kin' Sister".

Metalboy!, you have to be being hyperbolic. While I have no necessary love for their music, you surely can't be serious? But, extending the olive branch, let me ask you this: what other albums would you put in that category? It might help me to gain some perspective--and don't we all need that?--on your tops and bottoms, so to speak.

I guess I am stuck between a Kixchix and an Ace on this one. I always thought that Extreme were an odd fit with the era, something akin to King's X or even Living Colour. They seemed to be doing--succeeding or failing or both or whatever, not my place to plant a flag--something that was just a bit different.

If only Fletch would come to my rescue with a post. Fletch? Him calling. Line one.

When it hit I thought Nuno was the second coming of guitar players. I can see all points because over time I got bored with them but I still think the guitar work is amazing on that album - maybe it is lyrics I can't put my finger on it. Him I think you hit on the part I can't identify is that they were an odd fit..

C'mon, Boyz! This should be easy to figure out...

No songs, ugly nerds plus one pretty boy guitar ace does not a great Rock & Roll band.

Okay, so they had a #1 hit with a song I personally find quite nauseating. 80's AOR Receptionist Rock of the highest order.

However, their first album was A LOT better with a couple of GREAT songs like "Kid Ego" and "Mutha, I Don't Want To Go To School Today". You just had to keep your eyes closed or completely focused on Buttencourt to survive this nerd attack live or on MTV back in 1989 when that first album was released.

By comparison, "Pornograffitti" is simply awful -- an unfocused cheesefest that's all over the lot. How the h*ll does crap like "Get The Funk Out" wind up on the same album with crap like "More Than Words"?

Despite having hung out with these guys multiple times drinking in The Cat Club and Scrap Bar in NYC back in the day, nothing will change my mind as to how completely sh*te this band is.

HIM, you and others here have asked me many times what bands I think are good or bad and I haven't hesitated to list them in previous comments throughout the years.

Let's just lump these guys in with Van Hagar, Aerosmith (Everything after "Done With Mirrors"), Night Ranger, Damn Yankees, Bad English, Cheap Trick (when the nerd thing as a hilarious gimmick stopped being funny from 1980 on, with only glimmers of redemption), Journey, 80's Rush and all that kind of crap. I hope that everyone can see AND, especially, hear, the similarities between these acts.

They all have one or more nerds in them, have mostly crappy songs and are basically boring as hell.

Stack 'em up against REAL Rock & Roll Bands and hopefully, it gives you a better picture of just how crap Extreme is...

Here's a shortlist of GREAT Rock & Roll bands to compare with Extreme and the other crap AOR bands I have listed above...

VAN HALEN
AEROSMITH (Everything from '85 back)
CHEAP TRICK (Everything from '80 back)
MOTLËY CRÜE
RATT
POISON
CINDERELLA
JUNKYARD
BRITNY FOX
ROXX GANG
L.A. GUNS
THE CULT
and other great sh*t like that!

Get the difference?

Sheeeeeee*t!... Typo... "... does not a great Rock & Roll band make!"
July 27, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Oh, yeah... and let's not forget crap like Mr. Big and TeSLUG to lump in with Extreme! And now, here comes the part to give you some perspective and hopefully Ripper and Badland some comic relief...

I actually like Tesla much BETTER than Extreme, to give you an idea of just how crappy I think they are!

metalboy sometimes you really amuse me with your critiques even if I don't agree with them. I do like extreme and I think they have a ton of great riffing tunes. I'm kind of surprised you picked roxx gang as a better band I'm a fan of them but they are a couple real good song band and a whole lot of average. I like all those bands you mentioned except the cult like a couple songs and that's it. I'm assuming you weren't a huge 80s fan judging by the bashing of a lot of the bands I personally think they were great and some of thebands like aerosmith had the best cds then.even van agar was great it just the diehard roth fans wont accept him I even saw cherone sing for them and he blew the roof of the place too bad eddy wrote such a shitty album for them. anyways just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions. 80s rule !!!
July 27, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterglamrockerarchie
Appreciate your perspective, Glamrocker Archie, but I just thought of two other bands to throw on the sh*tpile above Extreme -- Winger and Trixter, two more goofball AOR bands!

p.s. FYI -- The Cult put out two all killer, no filler albums -- "Love Removal Machine" and "Sonic Temple". Roxx Gang put out one perfect album -- "Things You've Never Done Before".

Thanks for the reply, Metalboy! You are so prolific, I occasionally have to ask you to go back to the well with a few of your finely tuned "lists of . . . ."
July 28, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterHim
I agree with the following:

1. Nuno was and still is eye candy. And a great guitarist and

2 This album overall was pretty lame, with the exception of Get the Funk Out, He Man Woman Hater and maybe More Than Words (not my fave, but didn't hate it). The rest of the songs were filler and always got skipped over (or fast forwarded, more like).

"This album overall was pretty lame"!

There's the woman I love! ; )
July 28, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
lol metalboy I love winger they are great live and I love every cd but IV as for trixter also a fan have all there cds as for cult and roxx gang I have all 3 of those cds you mentioned my fav song by roxx gang is red rose love that song and as for cult I like eddie chio baby and sweet soul sister and maybe a couple other straglers lol. in other news I saw def leppard, reo speedwagon and tesla last weekend and it was awesome, I know how u feel about tesla lol but they rocked. joe sounded good too better than he has in a while.
July 28, 2016 | Unregistered Commenterglamrockerarchie
Yeah, Glamrocker Arch, "Edie, Ciao, Baby" is probably my fave Cult song, as well, just on the intro alone but that whole "Sonic Temple" album is great. And "Red Rose" by Roxx Gang is KILLER as is the rest of the album. I got to see Roxx Gang twice back in the day and they absolutely killed it, especially their super-shredder guitarist.
July 28, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterMetalboy!
Jeez, Metalboy, you are such a douche. So full of negativity and hate towards beloved bands. And then to claim, laughably, that Britney Fox is a great band compare to, say, Van Hagar. Go fuck yourself you fucking clown. As I have noted before, you are the reason I hardley ever come to the comment section here.
July 28, 2016 | Unregistered CommenterForge
