The Darkness 'Solid Gold'

The Darkness released a new album called Pinewood Smile on October 6. One of the tracks from the album is "Solid Gold" and it's a riot. Basically, it's a parody of the entire record industry and it seems pretty spot on to me. The riff on this song is killer, too and the video is just classic. I wish The Darkness much success with this new album - they deserve it. I'd love to see them live in concert someday.

Their new album, “Pinewood Smile”, has SO much going on, both musically AND lyrically, it can withstand multiple listenings. As a matter of fact, I haven’t stopped listening to it since it dropped last Friday.
Get the Deluxe Edition and watch the videos of all the singles on YouTube!
Here are the words to “Solid Gold” below:

SOLID GOLD
music & lyrics by Daniel Francis Hawkins, Francis Gilles Poullain-Patterson, Justin David Hawkins, Rufus Taylor
We’re gonna blow people’s f+cling heads off
Ooh, they’re gonna sh*t themselves
Crying out for more
Caution wet floor
This one’s going out to the fans
Hell bent for denim and leather
Notoriety and wealth
After the show
I think we both know
This fist ain’t gonna bump itself
We are legends
With a power that you can’t deny
We’re immortal
‘Cause these songs will never die
And we’re never gonna stop
Sh*tting out solid gold
And we’re never gonna stop
Sh*tting out solid gold
There’s a guy coming down from Sony
Artist an’ repertoire
If he likes what he hears
in those stupid ears
I’ll buy myself a faster car
He’s blowing smoke up our as*es
Everything we do is Ace
He wants to wine and dine us
Desperate to sign us
‘Cause we melted his f*cking face
We are legends
With a power you can’t deny
We’re immortal
‘Cause these songs will never die
And we’re never gonna stop
Sh*tting out solid gold
And we’re never gonna stop
Sh*tting out solid gold, yeah

Looks like they’re playing a few dates in Cali! Isn’t that where you’re based? You should definitely check ‘em out!
And it looks like GNR will be there in Milwaukee!
Allyson! You should go to the show in Cleveland!
I’ll be headed to Baltimore to catch ‘em!
C’mon, people! Those fists aren’t going to bump themselves!
1) love the above lyrics
2) you often post that Led Zeppelin is your favorite band, the way Van Halen is mine. I don't know if you have Sirius radio or not, but today Robert Plant finally sat down for his first-ever interview with Howard Stern. I'm sure someone will be posting it on youtube in the coming days so you can listen to it then.
I give is a 4/5 stars. It was brilliant (IMHO) when howard kept nagging robert about a certain issue (page, bonzo, lyrics) and plant's reply was, "OK, dad".
I also will check out that interview with Mr. Plant fletch. I gotta give Plant props. Dude does what he wants with whom he chooses. He's also honest enough to admit he really can't do the Zep stuff justice anymore,so why bother trying, regardless of the hundreds of millions of dollars it'd pull in.
Yeah, “Rack of Glam” is priceless! I assume you will catch them in L.A. and/or Vegas!
p.s. Sorry to hear about Hef. Did you attend his funeral?
"Someone" had her panties in a twist when she got called out on fACEbook, & being passive aggressive, instead of saying something to my face, just blocked my IP addresses from accessing the site. Childish. Whatever. I did other things, like played Vamp'd with Actress a few times, was invited by my longtime friend Ryan Roxie to get up & play with the member of the Alice Cooper Band when they were in Vegas, and immersed my self in other projects.
As for Hef, No, I didn't attend, as I don't think there ever really was one. Via FB I've talked with a raft of my other former Playboy employees, & we are planning to all reconvene for a reunion in L.A. at a later date. All of us were like family when we worked there. Even out of the office & beyond our own business social events, a lot of us hung out together anyways.
And yes, I'm planning to be in attendance when the Darkness play Brooklyn Bowl @ the Linq, here in Las Vegas. I have my booking agent trying to acquire the opening slot for us. I'll let you know if that pans out. Meanwhile, we're playing at "Legends" on Saturday & Vamp'd again a week from Wednesday... Vamp'd has become our 2nd home... so good to actively be playing live again!
Fletch! Thanx for the vote of confidence! I tend to enjoy the getting banned. It lets me know I'm "on target" when I finally snap & say something when someone is so blinded & obtuse.
I just missed communication with you people, the ones that matter. I find it hysterical when there is the digital version of crickets when this site detours off into the land of non-glam crap like Asking Alexandria. As any kind of artist, it's important to know who your audience is. This site insn't called "Bring Back Industrial 90's Sh*t- Nu Metal" for a reason. Actual Glam acts like Reckless Love, Mott the Hoople, T Rex, Bad Little Sister etc. get zero discussion while the aforementioned 90's crap band & Bret Micheals latest paid for PetSmart endorsement get 5 days of topics in a week. Poor Journalism in my humble opinon. But then again, it ain't my sight. I just drop by here.
