Total shock and huge bummer. So much he accomplished and so much more to live for. Has a grandchild I read he wanted to see more often. 66. That's young for 2017. Legend

This one hit me hard. Dude was so cool and mellow.Wrote a truckload of killer songs. RIP Tom, and thanks for the background music to a lot of great times of n my life. God is slowly putting the Traveling Wilbury's back together as his house band I guess? 🙁

Couldn’t get the link to work.

Check out Vains of Jenna’s 2009 cover of “Refugee”, perhaps the best cover version of a Tom Petty song ever!

God Bless and God Speed, Tom Petty!

RIP TP, one of the few artist that was the sound track of my childhood, what a shitty Monday all around.

There is no doubt that within my marriage, It was me that introduced my wife to most of the eclectic music that we listen to and it was mostly me dragging her to all types of concerts over the years. However, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was one band that she turned me onto and she schlepped me to several of his concerts over the years; which I thoroughly enjoyed. And, she turned this novice into a true fan. My wife was a die-hard fan and this one got to her pretty hard yesterday, but she was comforted by remembering all the times we saw him in concert and that she didn't have the regret of saying...I wish I had the chance of seeing him.

Also, I subscribe to Rolling Stone magazine, which I keep in the bathroom for when I...well, you understand. I didn't think my wife ever went near the magazine as she is a die-hard Republican, but, in a recent issue there was a article featuring Tom Petty, which she obviously read as she was quoting from it last night. Hey, rock-n-roll can bring people together; or at least allow a republican to page through rolling stone.

Reportedly, Tom said in this interview that this will be his last tour has he will be in his upper 60's and he wants to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his labor; particularly spending time with his grandchildren. Although this didn't come to fruition, and those words now ring hollow, we found comfort knowing that he lived an otherwise full and complete life in which he gave peace, comfort, happiness and a means of escape to millions of people- and that is one of the greatest gifts one can bring to others.

One of my favorite memories is of the MTV Music awards were Tom Petty along with Axl and Izzy performed Free Falling. My favorite Tom Petty song to this day. The video for into the great wide open is awesome as well. Tom will be missed. Not many men in the entertainment industry had honor and courage to stand up for what was right and win. I will never forget the fight over record pricing.
