I just now practically fell right out of my chair!!!
NOW we’re getting somewhere!!! It’ll never happen (please, Metalgawdz, let it happen!) but at least, finally, one of OUR kinds of bands got nominated!
Judas Priest- helped create a genre. CREATED the metal look
Moody Blues
Bob Jovi
Depeche Mode (groundbreaking)
The Cars
Again, though, as is so often the pattern, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame waited too long to nominate certain bands as members have passed away denying us yet another landmark reunion.
Bon Jovi
Moody Blues
Dire Straits
Eurythmics
The Zombies
The Cars
Dire Straits
J. Geils Band
Judas Priest
Moody Blues
Sister Rosetta Tharpe
Link Wray
the last two, although they weren't famous, made more contributions to what we know now as rock 'n' roll than a lot of other people who are already in. sister Rosetta Tharpe was a pioneer of the electric guitar, and broke down a lot of doors for the women who followed her. Link Wray basically invented the power chord. His song, "Rumble" which was an instrumental, was considered so offensive simply because of the amplified power chords, that it was banned by radio stations.
