The Best Hair Metal Shows of 2017 (In L.A.)

L.A. Weekly has just published a list of the best hair metal shows of 2017. The shows were all, of course, in the Los Angeles area. Seeing this list just makes me wish I lived out there... my husband and I talk about moving somewhere warmer all the time. The winters are bad in Ohio and it's already miserable cold. I know we'd be happier somewhere warm... and just think of all the great shows I could attend if I lived in L.A. like all the pretty people!

I hear you Aly. Think of all your money going towards taxes as well. I’m in northeast blue state. Taxed to death AND cold. Imagine, I paid my town $10,000 in advance to avoid the tax penalty due to this new legislation. I know. I’m free to live wherever I wish. Trust me when my kids are self sufficient, I shall.

Allyson, here's an idea. You and your husband should move to San Diego. You'd be only a two-hour drive from LA, and you wouldn't have to deal with the pollution and insane traffic they have up there. Plus, any time you wanted to go to a hair metal show in LA, you could take me with you , and I would pay for gas. It's a win win situation all around. :)

After 54 years living and working (mostly outside) in the Pennsylvania mountains and its wonderfully atrocious climate,, I'd literally walk across the country to live in San Diego Bob. I now have a hatred of the cold that is almost unhealthy. Lol As I told both my daughters when they were finishing school,"You're starting with nothing. Don't be a dumbass like your father was. Do it in a warm climate" 😂😂

Gary, my friend, believe me, I understand what you mean about the bad weather. I lived in New Jersey until '97 when I moved out here. I would go into a funk every Winter. come on out here, man!

Bob I promise you if we (me and my better half) get out there to visit, and it's a distinct possibility in the next year or 2, you WILL be our guide. (Once you scrape me off the floor after some primo So Cal bud) 🤘😎😂😂

sounds great to me my friend. My wife and I can definitely hook you up in the 420 department.

Bob - I'd hang out with you anytime. I'd be honored.

Honestly, we're talking more and more about trying to save up money to buy another property somewhere warm. We'd use it as a rental and then eventually move for good. We just can't take this cold anymore. It's 7 degrees right now in Ohio and that's the "warm" part of the weekend! - Allyson

That list was about as safe as could be. Nothing really daring in 8 out of 10 choices.
However, putting Punky Meadows on the list was a refreshing surprise. Even then, Las Vegas got the better of them, because when Punky played the "Backstage Bar & Grill" here, the night before, Punky was joined by his Angel bandmate, Lead Vocalist Frank DiMino.

@ Ace So I'm reading Kelly Garni's biography. As I get to a page with 2 great pics of Randy, who do I see the photo's are courtesy of? (That would be one Ace Steele). 😎😎😎 I got a ways to go in the book, but it is a really cool read so far. (And revealed to me that DuBrow was pretty much a huge knob well before fame hit, albeit a driven, savvy one. Lol)

Well Allyson, if your warm weather plans head you in the direction of sunny San Diego, I assure you, the honor would be mutual in the hangout department. Gary, if you and your better half make it down this way, hit me up. We'll have some good clean stoney fun.

Gary, Good Eye! Yes, when Kelly was putting his book together, I donated a batch of photos to him for it... ( I think 10 or 12...) I told him, "It's your life, man.. I just happened to be around & have a camera with me... Take what you want. " I'm really proud & honored to have contributed to it. I hope it made the book a little bit better. As for Kevin, Yeah he surely was a driven artist, and had he ability to be a cool guy, sometimes his arrogance & ego would kneecap his efforts. Sadly, that habit of opening his mouth at the wrong time continued long after Quiet Riot finally became a major label recording act. Over, & Over, & Over again. Some rats never learn the maze.

Happy New Years to you & all the readers... Happy 2018
