So This Is Getting Out Of Hand

Quiet Riot has ditched their upcoming new album with vocals by Seann Nicols and will now re-record the effort with James Durbin. This means Road Rage will be out in the summer and screws over Nicols too. So whatever. I hope Durbin signed a contract guaranteeing him a job with this band for at least a year. There's no guarantee in Quiet Riot.

Pretty sure Nichols is now fronting what I like to refer to as Blotzers "Ratt tribute band" (coming soon to a Chuck E.Cheese near you)

Yes, Gary. Nichols has gone from one toxic situation straight into another. I feel bad for him. As for Durbin, I'd be willing to bet that he'll be out of QR inside of a year. I think Banali thinks that Durbin has more starpower than he actually does. Yeah, he's 28 and hot, (Am I right, ladies?), but young people don't care about QR's music, and older people realize that the only person who truly ever nailed those songs vocally was DuBrow. Really sad all around.

I'm not saying I'm a QR fan but ditching a yet to be released album with a singer no longer in the band to re-do the vocals of the current singer makes perfect sense to me. Not sure any singer will be able to stay with QR, heck even Dubrow didn't sing on ever QR album back in the day...anyone remember Paul Shortino's album as their singer?

I suggest another name for the band: Quiet Please.

JAT, that QR record with Shortino was surprisingly good. Now, this was almost 30 years ago, but I seem to remember that QR had wanted to change their name before that record came out, but the label wouldn't go for it. QR then did a tour of Japan with Shortino on vocals. He sounded great doing the stuff he sang on originally, but as great a singer as he is, he sounded terrible doing the DuBrow stuff.

JAT is right... Makes total sense to re-record the album... Amazing, though, that in this day and age, it would take them so long to release it once it's completed.

And, Bob, while I agree young people don't really care about QR's music, they are at least familiar with it as "Cum On Feel The Noise" is ubiquitous from soundtracks of video games and the countless times it's been played in NFL stadiums. So, it makes sense to get Durbin. Who knows, maybe with him on vocals, they might even get some airplay and PR exposure.

Still, JAT and Bob, you're right, too, about most singers being unable to nail Du Brow's vocals, though Jizzy Pearl did the songs justice when he was their singer.

p.s. Haha!! Very funny, "Funny Gary" and HIM, as usual.
