Tom Keifer Takes Time Away To Rest Vocal Cords

Flag this: Tom Keifer canceled a few solo shows over the past few days due to vocal cord issues. He has famously battled vocal cord paralysis and is seemingly doing much better.

Apparently, this past week his vocal cords were so strained a doctor advised him not to sing. Presumably Tom is better now as his official Facebook is promoting the Loud n' Lima gig coming up next weekend. I wish him well and I know you do, too.

I wish em the best but it's pretty obvious at this point, that he & Don Dokken are trying to distance themselves from the bands that made them famous. Both know that their voices aren't strong enough to sing those songs the way they were meant to be sung. Neither are worth seeing live anymore, imho.

a tiny speed bump in his life. I'm certain he'll do his best to make up for the missed dates.

and a personal note to bk (Which, I'm still confused how it can be personal when I'm posting it on the this website)...anyway...

bk: Cinderella didn't make Tom Keifer. Tom Keifer made Cinderella famous.

To the rest of y'all fuckers...read thee above and then, notice this #...

I wholeheartedly agree, fletch. Keifer IS Cinderella! My wife and I just saw him last year and will see him again next time he comes around.

I agree, his voice made Cinderella. Definitely a very unique voice and that's what rock music needs to most second to good songwriting. Actually a very underrated guitar player too.

He may be Cinderella but he just doesn't do the Cinderella songs justice, anymore. Which is exactly why he's distancing himself from them and that type of music. Which is also why I'm not interested in seeing him live.

I saw Cinderella's last 2 shows a few years ago and several others beforehand over the years and I can tell you, he absolutely killed it. That said, one can hear why he suffers from vocal chord paralysis.

As Dee Snyder had noted a couple of years ago, it's amazing the guy can sing at all when you take into account what he does to his voice in terms of straining it to get that gravelly scream that is his trademark.

He should consider hanging it up if he's not going to put Cinderella back together. Yes, because he should take care of his voice but really more because his new material is pretty boring when compared to what he did in Cinderella.
